Book Four is out of this world!
Book four of the Men of Halfway House Series is Aidan and Jessie's story. I was a little nervous about this one because Aidan was not one of my favorite people in the previous book, but being that rare story weaver that Jaime is, she made me fall head over heels for him and Jessie. It has become my favorite of the four and Aidan, he's my favorite character hands down. There is so much more to Aidan than meets the eyes. He comes across as hard, closed off and has no room in his life for failure. Jaime does such an awesome job of writing his feelings, of letting us into his world, to the whys and events that brought him to the person he is. Aidan knows he's in love with Jessie but he also realizes that the way he is, he cannot do anything about it. Until...that moment when Jessie needs him most. Then Aidan throws caution to the wind and it will change their futures forever.Jessie just plain loves Aidan and he is unwilling to walk away. Every time he tells Aidan how much he loves him, how he's not going anywhere, I cried. Literally, this is a massive Kleenex book. Jessie has patience and he needs a lot of it. In my opinion, he literally saves Aidan from the demons that haunt him. No one else could have ever gotten through to him. One of the things I love most about Jessie is no matter what he's been through, he finds a way to keep it positive. Yes, he has his moments but he isn't letting the past shape his life. I think that was one of the reasons he could empathize with Aidan. The storyline will keep you in suspense as Aidan works toward finding the person out to hurt Jessie and bring his friends back home from Witness Protection. It is not a book you want to put down once you start and you will find yourself thinking about it until you can get back to finish it. Jaime touched on subjects that reminded me of a person within my family I hold dear to my heart. Anyone who doesn't understand that "love is love" should read this book. It is a game changer and will change their whole perspective!I cannot say enough good things about this book. It left me hungering for more...I can't wait to read the next one and hopefully get a glimpse of how all my favorite men are doing! Congrats, Jaime! I would give you a hundred stars and more for this one.

Great addition
Reread 20204 starsThis series has really hit its groove. This was a good addition. Jessie and Aidan were both hiding scars from their pasts. Jessie’s comes to light early on and we see him work through his issues with the help of Aidan. Aidan’s issues don’t fully come out until over half way through the book and it was great to see how the guys handled them, I enjoyed that they were not easily swept away and time was given for the healing. Cole mockingly call it turtle porn which is a good analogy as the guys relationship progresses really slowly and they spend a lot of time getting to know each other, but it works here.Looking forward to the next instalment

Another amazing addition to the series
Jaime Reese has done it again. A Mended Man is fantastic. This book is different from the first 3 books in The Men of the Halfway House series. Neither of the main characters live in the Halfway House this time. However, the characters from the previous books are also a big part of this one.The writing is flawless. From the first page to the last I was captivated. My heart broke over and over for these two men, but was repaired beautifully by the end. The chemistry that Aiden and Jessie have towards one another is undeniable. Having said that, the sexual tension and how they danced around the other was super frustrating. I just wanted them to give in already. Only, you know there is something that both of these men have deep inside that keeps them from moving forward.Once the barriers they built started to crumble, they were finally able to take their relationship to the next step. This process was heartbreakingly beautiful. The sex scenes are hot and written with so much passion that you can't help but experience the depth of the feelings they have for one another.A Mended Man is not just angst and healing. It's had suspense, action and funny moments throughout the book as well. The banter between Jesse and Aiden had me laughing often. I love how Jesse was able to bring a part of Aiden out that was long ago buried away. The secondary characters add so much to this story. The strength and love they show the main characters is touching. As an added bonus, we were able to once again witness the love they have for their own partners. It was also nice to see how even Aiden's’ coworkers relationships improved the more Aiden was able to break down some of his protective walls. I would love to see Wall have his own story as well as Bull. If by chance this happens, I am curious to see if maybe their stories will intertwine.Overall, A Mended Heart by Jaime Reese is brilliant. You don't want to miss out on this book or this series. In order to fully understand the characters and the background of the series I recommend starting with book 1, A Better Man.

Well worth the wait!
This is the fourth book in the men of the halfway house series. When I first started this series about a year ago, the first three were out so I was able to read them one after the other. I then had to keep myself busy with other books until this one was ready for release. Well it didn't disappoint, I loved Jesse and Aidan's story. Yes it was long and there was a bit of angst at the beginning and towards the end. The rest of the book was about Jesse and Aidan growing together and helping each other to heal through all the intense experiences life had handed them in the past.Jesse was so good at grounding Aidan being so patient with him and helping him to open up and come to terms with what he had been through. Aidan was the light at the end of the tunnel for Jessie when he had that awful experience at the beginning of the book.I loved how amazing these men were together and the strong and unbreakable bonds that these men involved in this series have together always helping each other at the drop of a hat.It was well worth the wait and a very good read!

A fantastic read....
From the very first page this book had me hooked. It starts with an assault, Jessie is attacked in his own home. Aidan is called out because he knows the victim..... The book builds from there.Aidan is a cop, former military, he has lots of baggage. He comes across as cold and uncaring but thats just how he protects himself.Jessie is a genius at finding out backgrounds, loop holes, basically anything a person is hiding. He has a past that comes back to haunt him.Together the two broken men mend each other, together they can get past the horrors they are both trying to forget.WOW Jaime Reese knows how to write. This whole series has had me glued to my seat. These books are not fluffy insta love, they are gritty with good storylines and even better plots. I would advise reading them in order they were written as the storylines bleed over into each book....I liked that the guys from the previous books play a part in this one, I like the slow burn between Jessie and Aidan, it fit the book perfectly.Yes some parts were difficult to read, yes this book made me cry, I also had a few giggles. Cole is just awesome with his missing brain mouth filter, he lightens the book a little.Overall a great read from beginning to end. Well written with great characters that make you want more....I'm very curious to know who's book is next. If I was to take a guess, it will be the inmate that was mentioned by Jessie towards the end of the book....

Hmmm... not my fave, but glad I read it
Oh God - this is going to kill me saying this, but whilst I liked reading about Jessie/Aidan, and loved them as a couple, I didn't love this instalment of the series anywhere near as much as I wanted to. Not sure if it's because I loved books 2/3 so much (1 was good but not my fave), but compared to them, it was just a tad too angsty, way way too long and felt a little slow in the middle where I felt the main story (not the MCs) waned. The start was superb, wonderful epilogue but all in all, not one of the series I would reread (and I've reread the others loads). That said, I am very much looking forward to Drayton's instalment, and Jaime Reese remains up there as one of my fave authors

What happened?
Loved this author's previous books but after reading this originally had to put it aside for a reread another day to be sure it wasn't moon cycles /hormones/climate change/something causing my discomfort with this one. The magic of the genuine connection between the characters just wasn't present and the story didn't give me the happy > unhappy ratio preferred in a romance. Just didn't love it like it's predecessors. The problem with the usually awesome writers is that readers get so , SO spoiled that anything less than amazing, almost seems like a personal betrayal which ,of course, is utterly ridiculous and very unfair.
