Flesh Tone was singled out by spin.com as one of the "25 Summer Albums That Matter Most" and The New York Times called it "one of her strongest records yet." Perezhilton.com hailed it as "one of the summer's best," adding: "There are soooooo many good songs on Kelis album! Actually, they are ALL good!" Reviews in the U.K. have been stellar also. "Kelis. Genius. Pop Auteur. Credible diva. Welcome back," said NME, giving Flesh Tone an 8 out of 10 rating. The Sunday Times of London called it a "celebratory slice of dancefloor heaven" while Glamour gave it five stars. "She's still fierce and fabulous, and we're thrilled to have her back!" said Time Out London. Perfect slice of electro-house pop. A SUMMER album!
"Flesh Tone" is a deliciously perfect blend of electro-house pop. I bought the album today and I have been playing it non-stop and now I'm waiting for my hard copy so I can play it until it plays no more! The music is euphoric and the lyrics are beautiful. Yes, here is an electronic-pop album with deep and meaningful lyrics. I did not care for Kelis before, I just liked her "Milkshake" and "Bossy" hits like everyone else, but after hearing her single "Acapella" and "4th of July" I learned more about her and watched some interviews and performances--Tavis Smiley and saw her on Kimmel and Leno. She is so amazing live that I already bought my tickets to see her in concert with Robyn! (YES!)This album is like the ultimate lullaby to her son and a kind of declaration of her independence and strength as a woman. Her divorce from Nas did not turn her into a crying woman that cowers back and loses it all. With this album she picks herself up, pieces everything together and rises from the problems with strength! The music is amazing. If this is her new musical direction, then more power to her! There are so many club stomping hits on this album, it is incredible. My personal favorites are "22nd Century", "Acapella", "4th of July", and "Song for the Baby". I just cannot get over the fact that this is a dance album with beautiful lyrics and for such a cheap price ($7.99) it is a STEAL! It is has gotten praise from critics and bloggers alike, and all I can say is that they hit the nail on the head. This album is HOT!Finally, this is the PERFECT SUMMER ALBUM! Buy it NOW!

WOW!!! ALBUM OF THE YEAR SO FAR!!!
WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THE ALBUM THAT YOU HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE? IT'S SO FREAKIN' AMAZING, MELODIC, AND DANCEABLE.OK! I KNOW SHE'S IS DIFFERENT KNOW, SHE'S NOT SINGING HIP-HOP/R&B, BUT SHE IS CREATING SOMETHING NEW, FRESH, TRENDY, LIKE SHE DID IN THE 90'S AND 00'S WHEN SHE COLLABORATED WITH THE NEPTUNES CREATING MASTERPIECES.R&B AND HIP-HOP ARE NOT SO POPULAR ANYMORE. THIS DECADE WILL EMBRACE DISCO/ ELECTRONICA AND KELIS WILL BE PART OF THIS EVOLUTION. SHE IS ONE OF THE FEW ARTISTS THAT KNOW HOW TO REIVENT HERSELF AND NOT THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH THE ALBUM WILL SELL.PROBABLY THE ALBUM WILL FLOP, BUT IT IS PROPABLY THE BEST ALBUM YOU WILL HEAR ALL YEAR.SHE IS REALLY A BLACK DIAMOND!OTHER GOOD ARTISTS THAT WON'T SELL: JEWEL (WHAT A VOICE), ROBYN (GREAT SONGS), DARREN STYLES (A GREAT HARDCORE DJ), BUT WHO CARES? GREAT MUSIC LIVES FOREVER!!!SORRY (MY ENGLISH OK?)PAULO

Simply stunning!
I've been listening to this CD for few months now and it is simply stunning! Oddly enough this is an electro-pop album yet it sounds extremely original and modern. It is difficult to find a recent comparable album, but if I had to choose I'd say Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak could be viewed as a companion piece, with the obvious caveat that Kanye's lyrics are subpar, whereas Kelis is actually a very good lyricist. It is also hard to pick a favorite as all songs are just excellent. 4th of July is outstanding, Home has a kick-@$$ beat, Brave is a gem. Very well done Kelis!!!

WTF???
I'm a broad minded person when it comes to music, and after reading other reviews on here regarding this album, I bought it without hesitation after all I'm a huge Kelis fan. Much to my amazement this is the absolute WORST Kelis album I have ever purchased. First of all you should be warned that this album is on that Techno-Euro bullcrap, there's not one single R&B track on here. I sorted through the album hoping that I'd hear something that would remind me of her soulfulness especially since she was going through a nasty divorce with Nas (normally hard times brings out the best out of artists) but in this case my dear Kelis threw a curve ball. If I'd known earlier that she was on that Euro-Techno tip on this album, I would've never bought it; It's just not my style of music and everybody should'nt try to be Lady Gaga. Although Kelis seriously hurt my feelings on this album (lol), I'll still forgive her and hope for the best from her on her next album. I maintain that I'm a huge Kelis fan and I absolutely love her whole style and music, but she owes her core fans a huge one after dropping this album. We'll be here waiting patiently Kelis......

Dance album of the year
I love this new direction Kelis has taken with Flesh Tone. If you like Dance music then this album is for you. Fresh funky dance beats that will have you dancing from beginning to end. She worked with the best producers of Dance music from Ammo, Jean Baptiste, Benny Benassi, Burns, Diplo, Boys Noize, Free School, DJ Switch, Will.i.am and David Guetta. Flesh Tone can be described as a pop album but adopts electro pop, synthpop, house and dancehall elements to form a "euphoric dance album" which tributes the birth of Kelis' son. .. buy it!

Looking to God with Closed Eyes
Flesh Tone is approahing a techno medal sound with open eyes. The teasing voice of Kelis forces you to embrace love and independence away from the mindset of worldly thinking in terms of hot fleshly desire and escorts you into the dance only party mode. When all you want is the pounding sound of voice and beat, nine compositions are more than enough to take your breath away and satisfy your eardrum. Rest assured, when you are ready to open up for the party, you will be able to get your grove on.

Excellent sequenced dance music w/ emotional lyrics than the normal ...
Excellent sequenced dance music w/ emotional lyrics than the normal 'grab boy, grab girl, get on floor raise hands and fell the beat' but on the songs she has a life child divorce and why not to forget everything.Partying is fun but, you have many other expectations of you.

a BIG surprise !!!!
I ventured myself into new territory with kelis, just word of mouth, but the record is amazing, cutting edge and so far from Beyoncé that's great to know some R&B stars have real artistic vision. A Capella is a perfect song!

Echt hörenswert!
Kelis...

Kelis Flesh Tone
This is a great album. Kelis Is very individual and always seems to be ahead of her time. The tracks are dance oriented, but,if that's not your taste it won't matter as this album is quality.buy it...enjoy it...
