The 2 STAR Rating is not for quality, but for how it works. This product is fine if you switch cables from one product to another. YOU CANNOT LEAVE TWO CABLES PLUGGED INTO THIS AT THE SAME TIME - IT WILL NOT WORK. I was trying to connect two HDMI ports to this in a Cargo Trailer - one port was on the exterior wall and one was on the interior wall. My customer needed to be able to plug his tablet into an exterior port and show the video on an exterior TV OR an interior TV. I thought I could plug the input of this Y to an HDMI input port and then connect an HDMI cable to one of the Y's output's and connect it to the exterior HDMI TV port and connect another HDMI cable to the other Y output and then connect it to the interior HDMI TV port. I thought that the data would come through which ever TV port was in use at the time. I could not get data from either port. Once I disconnected one of the cables, the data came through. If you have two cables plugged in at the same time, it must try to split the data so nothing comes through. If you have this connected to an HDMI Splitter, it would probably work.

This product works great!! I have a computer with a hdmi out and I have a projector and a screen trying to do both is hard work. This product is really easy to set up all you have to do is just lug the male hdmi into your hdmi out port on anything and plug the other hdmi cables into the splitter. The picture and audio quality sound great and looks great!!! I been looking for a product like this. I can use this on more then my computer. I’m going to buy more in the future for around my home. Before I forget it makes me use my projector more easier since what I see on my computer screen goes to my projector so I don’t have to look around. (if you are sharing a hdmi cable for another monitor it can distort some of it). If you have any question feel free to ask me.I got this product for a discount for my honest review. While it probably will split HDMI, if you're trying to split HDMI output from a DirecTV genie (or the DVR even), this will not work. You must buy a powered HDMI splitter and it'll bypass the HDCP protection from DirecTV so you can duplicate your signal to multiple TVs. I have a TV on each side of the wall in my office in my shop and this works great so I have the same thing no matter if I'm at my desk or working on the car.

Good product, fits our needs for the most part. However, when using a firestick and a digital box, it only wants to recognize one or the other, now allow you to keep both HDMI ports filled. A little disappointed that it didn't have a switch, like an older RF modulator or such. Good price, but I am wondering if all are like this or you get what you pay for and we will be having to continually unplug our firestick when we want to switch to local stations.

We bought this to switch between our cable and Chromecast on the main TV, but I guess since there was no way to actually tell the device to "switch" between the two inputs, it just didn't work. So if you want to use it for that or something similar, you will have to purchase something with a little more tech associate with it. All around good product, just didn't work for my situation.

Will not work with most installs.Better to go with a powered unit for a few more bucks. Might work on a short run, but mine was only 3 feet and dropped the signal if I tried to view on 2 screens at the same time.

I did not read the entire description, and bought this for my Roku. It did not work on the Roku, I got the error, HDCP Unauthorized. It did work for my DVD player. Well built, just not compliant to some standard to allow it to work with Roku. I found another splitter that did work.

I wish I'd done more research before I bought this product (and read the reviews). I wanted to plug a DVD and fire stick into a tv that has only one hdmi port. I assumed since one of the devices was off, the one that was on would play on the tv. Apparently if you want that kind of a setup (i.e., a real hdmi splitter) it has to have a switch on it. Otherwise, it overloads the hdmi port because it's trying to process both signals at the same time (even if one of the devices is off) and will just display "no signal." Which is what it did when I tried to plug it in as mentioned above. From a tech blog I was reading, it sounds like all hdmi work this way. The switch separates the signals by turning one of them off. So then that begs the question: why would this particular (non switch) splitter ever be useful to anyone?
