Good motorized slider, but unable to control DJI via app (v1.2.1)
The overall product quality is good. It's made with good materials and is well designed. If you're just looking for a motorized slider, this is a sound purchase. However, if you're purchasing the YC Onion slider to pair with your DJI Ronin stabilizer, then there are some things you should know.1) You'll have to purchase the YC Onion Interlink Controller and a NP-F550 battery to mount and power your Ronin.2) The YC Onion app needs some work (at the time of this review v1.2.1). I was able to control the hotdog motor through the app after the firmware update. However, I was unable to control my Ronin-S via the app. While I could search and connect to the Ronin, I could not open the UI. This is the main selling point of the slider for me. I'm sure they'll work out this issue, but until they do, you may want to hold off on purchasing the YC Onion motorized slider.I am planning to post a video review once I resolve the DJI control issues.

A lot of money for a unit with a lot of flaws
Very light weight unit if that’s what you’re looking for. For me it wasn’t a win, the app was not connecting even after trying everything. The slider sometimes have a mind of its own, personally I prefer simpler units that you have more control over until they can correct this buggy unit.I use a $20 rotating plate for food shots and it kills the onion. As I said, not a fan, but maybe others will use it better than me. Too expensive for the cheap results it gives.

Great starter camera slider
This manual camera slider is excellent for anyone that is now starting to venture out and trying to improve their photo and video shoots and don't really want to spend a lot of money. There are a lot of positive features that are worth discussing about this camera slider, and only a few minor negatives to be mentioned, but before that a few quick words regarding the packing and presentation of the slider. The camera slider comes in a very nice and well padded case that is extremely easy to carry around, as it has a convenient handle on the top, the zipper runs all around the case making it very easy to open and unpack or pack the contents. Inside the case there is the slider, a small bag with the included two size elan wrenches to help you attach different cameras to the slider, 1/4 and 3/8 inch screw adapters and a cell phone adapter, in addition the slider's moving parts are wrapped in plastic to prevent any damage during transportation.Positives:- Good quality made - the camera slider feels and looks very sturdy, there are not a lot of rattling and loose parts, the two main rails are smooth and strong as well. All four legs have sticky rubber bottoms that are preventing any unwanted movement while placed on a desk or other flat surface.- Inexpensive - for the functionality that this slider is providing, the price under $50 is very competitive, similar products are priced more expensive.- Great functionality - 1/4 and 3/8 inch mounting possibilities, it can be used with almost all modern day mirrorless or DSLR cameras, action cameras and even cell phones. Personally I am using it with the Sony a6400 and it is working great. It can also be mounted directly on a tripod and at any possible angle, further expanding the great functionality.- Manual operation - Yes motorized sliders are great and in a lot of applications are preferable, but no mechanical moving parts mean no possibility of failing or damage, also the whole setup is much lighter and is not requiring any additional power.- Carbon fiber main two rails.- Height adjustment with the feet, from 6.5 to 11 centimetres.- Silent and smooth operation due to the precision bearings that are dust and sand proof.- External damper and level indicator.Negatives:- On the flip side, only manual - there are some applications that are greatly beneficial if you have a motorized slider, but of course those sliders cost a lot more.- Size - only 45CM long, but of course you should be aware of the size before purchasing and if it's not enough for you, look for a longer one.- No user manual included - ideally it would have been great to include some detailed user manual for the beginners that are now starting to learn.Overall, I really like this manual camera slider and I am using it regularly with my mirrorless camera for various video shoots.

Awesome addition to any videography arsenal!
I have been wanting a camera slider for some time now as it adds a nice level of professionalism and polish to video production work. This carbon fiber slider from YC Onion is just the right size for my needs, it is very portable as I can not only put it inside most backpacks, but it also fits nicely inside the tripod bag I currently have so now I have all of my tools in one place.Design is excellent, obviously made from carbon fiber at least the main two slider rods are, the rest of the body is made from aluminum and some plastic, it is definitely built well. This is a bearing type of slider and not a friction slider like a lot of other sliders in this price category, that makes it already ahead of the pack. The main mounting plate is very solid and holds my camera in place very securely, the mounting hole takes 1/4" or you can remove the mounting screw for a 3/8" screw, nice touch for a variety of mounts. There are additional mounting points on the mounting plate as well as ones on the ends of the slider rails for any other items you may need. The legs are solid and if I was nit-picking, I would like to have seen them have some type of adjustable locking mechanism, as of now they are free moving and if you apply too much pressure when using the legs, they can move a little, especially if they aren't all the way level. There are height adjustment screws on the legs also so you can get some additional height when using the legs.In use this is super easy to get great shots with, the sliding action is very smooth and doesn't have any resistance when wide open (tightening mechanism fully unlocked), when some resistance is needed, for like an angle shot downwards, the action is still smooth and offers just enough resistance to be useful. I have used it mounted to a tripod with a fluid head so far to get the shots I've needed; this works well as it is perfectly center balanced on the main mounting bracket. This kit contains everything you need to get professional level slider shots, the slider itself, a nice carrying bag, mounting head 1/4" to 3/8" adapter, some hex keys and it even comes with a respectable cell phone holder if you wanted to use it that way.Greatly impressed with this slider so it comes highly recommended.
