Dissapointed.
I love the concept of loving your body and tuning in to what you eat to find out what works for your body. The book fell a little short when it didn't specifically say how to tune into the body, there was only a reference to knowing a food was bad for you "the day after" and provided no details how to achieve being mindful of what you eat that same day. The author also seems to send mixed messages, saying it's okay to eat anything and drop eating labels, but goes around to say that those same foods you want to eat are NOT healthy and should be replaced with "healthier" alternatives. Most of the subjects in the book like self love, forgiveness, doing what you want, self-care and boundaries can all be found in other self-help books as well, so while I liked the ideas, with me being a self help reader, the book provided no new ideas or insights. At most, I think the author could have at least offered more insight and maybe even an exercise to help get in tune with what a person is craving that same moment it happens and maybe offered more relevant resources other than her social media pages. The book has tried to start a revolution, but I find it immediately squashed. Three Stars only.

Don't expect this to be a "how-to" book.
So. It was full of the same inspiring message over and over.... make peace with food and love your body as is. But at no time does the author ever explain HOW to do just that. She goes on and on forever about how great it is and how "free" it feels but doesn't provide any detail about the steps she took to get there.

For those looking to love themselves again...
Have you ever stopped to question what guides your quality of life? Whether it’s your relationship, career, or even diet, Mel Wells approaches the dreaded word “diet” from a multifaceted approach. Her career as a health coach, speaker, and blogger has guided her own journey to free her own body of guilt specific to food. Speaking to female adults, her message resistant’s with those who have sought the fountain of health their whole life or those struggling with body image. The main objective Wells hopes to enhance within her readers is what a healthy relationship with food looks like. Although not all individuals have the same journey to weight loss and the perfect diet is non-existent, there is hope in the freedom to decide your fate. Her claims often require the reader to look within, not only at the present, but the past and future. By encourage leadership of one’s own life, Wells opens up the discussion of “The Future You” and what that looks like. Rather than constantly looking back at what may have been, the rhetoric of moving forward can be seen throughout the text. This is a self-help book that sheds a positive light on a message that is hard to accept for many through constant pep-talks and coaching rather than evidence and teaching.

Simply amazing.
I've read this book twice already and want to read it again! If you suffer from any eating disorder or body image, this book is for you! I couldn't believe how I related to it SO much, even just by the first chapter! Every chapter I read I kept saying "YES! This is what is going on in my head! How did she get it right so perfectly!?"It's not just about trying to get over an eating disorder, but also about rewiring your brain to love you and your body for WHO you are now, NOT what you look like.I cannot recommend this book enough. It definitely takes work to overcome an eating disorder but if you want recovery, this book is a step in the right direction! It changed my whole perspective on a relationship with my body.

Quick read-can this be a bad thing?
I am in a rut and was looking for new ways to eat, track food, get motivation and more. I knew many of the suggestions she offered so I guess I was wanting the book to knock my socks off. This book mainly to me has inspirational quotes. There are also testimonies of those that are clients of the author. I think for women starting a journey of weight loss this might be good, but for me not so much. I just skimmed through the book pretty quick. Love your body is what I got from this.

I really enjoyed her message
I really liked the overall message of the book, that you should eat for how you want to feel. I figured there might be more exercises, which I think may have been helpful.

Wow.
I've never resonated or felt truly good about a book like I do this one. The words hit the depths of my soul, hard. I've realized everything I've been doing that's counterproductive and I'm so excited to change it. Do yourself a favor, buy this book if you've ever struggled with dieting or "lifestyle changes".

A new way of looking at weigh, food and your body
I have read much about The Goddess Revolution by Mel Wells and since I decided in April to start to be more mindful of what I was eating and try to lose some weight, I thought I would buy it to read. The Goddess Revolution is not a diet book, Mel has gone on her own personal journey with weight loss and body image and tries here to pass on some wisdom she has learned on the way. It is a book which embraces food, looks at how to love and accept yourself without worrying so much about weight, your body and food. How much better we would be if we could dispel the negative thoughts associated with this. Less diet book and more a revolution in thinking about your body, food and weight.I found this a very empowering, uplifting book. Some of the ideas I am already embracing. I do believe that over time when you stop eating rubbish and feed yourself, healthy tasty foods, you no longer crave the food that you once did. I have cut lots out of my diet and feel 100% better for it. The one thing that I have yet to overcome is throwing away my scales and not weighing myself. I am currently overweight and would like to lose weight for health reasons rather than ones of vanity. Maybe when I have done this I may be able to ditch the scales.A very interesting read, with lots of common sense suggestions and things we already know really but sometimes find hard to put into practice. I think we all know how to lose weight really, eat less, eat healthy food and do more. I have always said that loosing weight is a mental issue and that you must look at the reasons or causes that makes someone eat.

Food for thought.... about food! :-)
I found this book a bit different in a way that it approaches the subject from the "emotional" point of view. Highly sensitive person, I tend to absorb and keep a lot inside, exhaust myself for others and therefore not being able to follow plans. What I have discovered and trying for the last few years is change my way of living, not my diet plan... Get the best for myself holistically, not just the next diet plan. I can rationalise things but I am motivated when I am emotionally involved. And what better way to feel every day that you are doing the best for yourself!I found that this book follows this approach. It is written in a very simple way, describes all the mistakes that we have made out there and how to approach them. There is no diet plans there, it's how you mindfully follow your body and intuition to what's best for you. It's not about your instant pleasure of sugar, it's about how this food will make you feel later - although it doesn't deprive you from eating the not-so-good foods. One thing I would say though - this book is more for people that practice or are aware of mindfulness in their lives. In my view, it would be difficult if you cannot "listen" to your body...

Motivational and inspirational.
This book and the messages within were really motivational to me, I now find it easier to give my body more respect and nourishment. I finished it and started it again straight away! I feel like it's a book that I'm going to dip in and out of a lot when my body confidence goes down. The advice is common sense really but presented in such a way that gave me lots of "ah-ha!" moments.
