The basket turns the water orangey at the bottom.
I have a regular sized tiger brand rice cooker and the basket fits in the rice pot. It's a great way to steam sticky rice so that it's no mushy but it gives off a weird smell, like the smell of wood. That smell transferred to the rice and made the rice taste different.
