Halo Holistic Dry Dog Food, Wild Salmon and Whitefish Recipe, 14 LB Bag of Natural Dog Food

I tried to slowly transition my dog to this food and it caused days of diarrhea and even vomiting on two occasions. I quickly took him off of it and his stool has been fine and we've had no other issues since being off this food. I contacted the company and am trying a different flavor and type of food directly from them - I am wondering if Amazon as the distributor is causing this issue because I read similar reviews of this sort on Amazon, but not from other distributors. I will be trying a different flavor of the food direct from the company and will update this once I've determined what the exact cause is.

I have been receiving the Chicken and Liver on a regular monthly delivery basis for a long time and all was well then, the last 3 shipments (I got the 14lb bags) smelled really awful when I opened the bags. I kept waiting for the next monthly delivery hoping that the first was just a fluke but it happened twice again . Like it had gone bad, rancid, smells like when you have old flour and it smells rancid and have to throw it out. My dog loved and ate it for years and even she could tell that it was bad and refused to eat so I had to go to the store and try a different brand and she was happy again. At $53 x bag, I hate that I wasted $159! No more, moving on to a different brand. Oh the bags were all within the expiration date so that is not it. I gave 2 stars because it had been good before it went south.

I was supposed to receive two 14-lb. bags of Halo Dry Dog Food Chicken and Chicken Liver flavor, but instead I received a 10-lb. bag of Halo Dry Dog Food Chicken and Chicken Liver flavor, and one 10-lb. bag of Halo Dry CAT FOOD chicken and chicken liver... I gave it a high rating because the Halo dry dog food is wonderful, but getting the wrong items wasn't. I'm going to donate the cat food to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter here in Trinidad, Colorado.

I’ve meticulously watched my dogs breath... bad breath is something I really wanted to avoid. When my dog stopped enjoying his old food (Royal Canin for Golden Retrievers), I gave this a go based on the reviews. My dog didn’t end up liking this but worst of all, his breath started to smell so bad after this. I know it’s this product because he only eats dog food (dry) and the treats he receives are very controlled, this is the only change. I’m so disappointed. It’s been 2 months since I’ve stopped using this product but can still smell that fish product in his mouth. Never again.

This is a quality food. I have a little tiny guy with neurological problems and vision issues and he is super skinny and has skin problems on top of everything else. This food is the only one he will eat, and his skin and weight are stable on this food. Little Binky gives it four paws up!
