The RCA Albums 1977-1985

At LAST, an R&B legend gets her (boxed) DUE! All eight of her RCA albums are remastered (some with extended versions of the hit singles) and collected in a beautiful flip-open box with a gorgeous, informative booklet which features discographical tidbits and rare photographs! The sound quality is amazing and it's the very first of its kind for this exceptionally talented vocalist whose career is now 42 years and still going strong (as a touring/concert draw.) The only downfall for ME is Soulmusic Record's expected misspellings throughout the booklet. It used to be an occasional thing, but with every release, you can count on uncovering a handful of incorrectly spelled or punctuated items and long-winded commentary which is so complex at times in its structure, that some sentences throughout fail to connect and serve instead as being run-on and making no sense. Proofreading would certainly remedy this. As an avid R&B collector, these kinds of things (for the asking price), are jarring, and serve in cheapening the final product. In comparison with other artists' career-spanning box sets (special, long-awaited gifts to the fans), there ARE NO misspellings and/or grammatical errors to be found within the essays or the box sets. Rather, they are meticulously presented and error-free. These issues aside, what you have is a complete and comprehensive overview of the legendary, Evelyn "Champagne" King's entire RCA album output from 1977-1985 all housed together in one stunning set!

Just got mine today. Such a wonderful story of a fantastic woman with a great catalog of music. The booklet with all the stories about the songs. Recording sessions and musicians contributing to these albums just make the listening experience much more enjoyable. Anyone who grew up in the Seventies and/or eighties will appreciate this. Some may say the music is dated, but just listen for a while. The rhythm/songwriting and production value is impeccable and timeless. ENJOY AND DANCE!!!!

I am such a fan of hers and a lot of my albums by her had gotten stolen and now I have the RCA catalog .. all on CD format. I am very happy with this purchase

レヴュー・タイトルが全てを言い表しています。私は4,469円+配送料350円で買っちゃいましたが、1/18現在4,235円で入手できるんですから、即購入すべきだと思います。音質に若干の不安を抱いていましたが、それも取り越し苦労でした。この価格でこの音質なら言う事ないでしょう。各アルバムの収録曲の内、ボートラだけを曲順含めて下記に記します。Smooth Talk 9.Shame(12" Disco Mix) 10.I Don't Know If It's Right(12" Disco Mix)Music Box 10.Music Box(12" Version) 11.Out There(12" Version)Call On Me 9.Sweet Delight 10.Long Time Waiting On You 11.Is It Good 12.I Love You 13.Let's Get Funky Tonight(12" Version)I'm In Love 9.I'm In Love(12" Dance Mix)Get Loose 9.Love Come Down(12" Version)Face To Face 未収録So Romantic 未収録A Long Time Coming(A Change Is Gonna Home) 10.Your1 Personal Touch(Dance Version) 11.Take A Chance(12' Version) 12.Better Deal(7" Version)単品で売られているアルバムを既に全て持っている（勿論CDで）方は本ボックスセットと収録曲は同じですので、ご注意ください。"Call On Me"収録のボートラ（13曲目除く）は結局リリースされなかった"Sweet Delight"と言うアルバムに収録されていた曲ですので、かなり貴重な音源でしょう。8枚続けて聴くとよく解りますが、デビューアルバムから"Get Loose"まではヒット・ポテンシャルの高い素晴らしいアルバムだと思います。しかし"Face To Face"以降は出来がガクッと落ちている気がしますね。あくまでも個人的にはですが、打ち込み音中心のサウンド・プロダクションになった事が影響していると思います。"Face To Face"からセールス的にも振るわなくなったのはその事を物語っているでしょう。でもそこいらの凡百なソウル・シンガーのアルバムとは一線を画しているのは間違いないです。超豪華で読み応えのある（英語ですが）ブックレット（なんと３９頁！各アルバムの事を説明してくれてます）も封入されているので、買って損はないと断言します。CDコレクターとしてはオリジナルジャケットじゃなかったのが（添付写真参照）口惜しいですが、そこは我慢しました。

イヴリンの歌声が大好きで毎日聴いていますが飽きません。8枚のアルバムが一箱に収まっており、一枚一枚のCDの出し入れもしやすく重宝しています。貴重な写真や説明も載っていて、お勧めです。

Nice although I wished there were more full length versions in the set.The quality of sound is pretty decent to compare to other sets I have commented on before.A set to have if you like Funk music in its original glory. ✔️

Posseggo già tre album in cd di Evelyn King ma ho preso comunque questa raccolta dei suoi primi 8 album , perchè credevo di fare un affare visto il prezzo degli album mancanti presi singolarmente. ma alla prova d'ascolto con quelli che posseggo( ftg )si notano differenze . Questa raccolta secondo mè ha un suono più compresso , comunque buono e accettabile ma inferiore.
