Winsor & Newton3030932 Professional Acrylic Slow Drying Medium, 125Ml

I use this to slow down the drying time of acrylic paint. For instance, when blending colours to paint a sky, it helps to achieve the right effect before the paint hardens.

I paint miniature portraits so I never have much paint out at a time, so needed something that could extend my paints open time on the palette.This is the first medium I've tried but was really pleased with it - paints stayed wet on the palette for at least twice as long as normal.It has a gel consistency similar to paint, so I mixed in a little water to improve the flow.My only complaint would be that it's in a bottle - the viscous nature of the gel would make a lot more sense in a jar or pot, wondering if i'll have trouble getting the last bit out when it's used up.

I found this works really well with my acrylics on my home made gelatine plate. Trouble is it has a very icky chemical smell which made me feel a bit sick after a while, I believe it is propylene glycol, which is in most acrylics but not in such quantity.

I was looking for a product to slow the drying of thinned acrylic paint when sprayed through my airbrushes. I had also bought some of their Flow Improver too (works well by the way) so I was hoping this would do the trick. I opened the bottle to add a couple of drops to my reduced paint, only to find that it has a really thick jelly like consistency. Undeterred, I tried mixing it with some isopropyl alcohol mixed with distilled water to thin it right down, but this turned it into a stringy mess. No amount of stirring or shaking would persuade it to mix so I just filtered it out.I believe it's probably meant for artists to add to acrylics without changing the consistency of the paint too much, and for this purpose it may be ideal. Not the right product for me though.

Excellent Quality Medium - The product seems to last forever. It makes paint stay moist for a long time whilst maintaining the colour. Provides a really smooth finish to work from and allows scope for blending. I really like this product and would recommend to anyone that wants a glossy medium for acrylic paints.
