Spectrastone Special Green Aquarium Gravel for Freshwater Aquariums, 5-Pound Bag

We almost lost a dear family pet because of this gravel. The fish looked like he was dying so we got him out of the tank into a different container. No matter what I tried, I could not get the water to clarify. Tried new filters and even bought a new pump. Eventually I realized that the color was leeching off the gravel and fouling the water. Photo shows fish back in tank after the gravel was totally removed. Buying this gravel was a big mistake that cost me a lot of money & almost cost the life of our dear family pet. If possible I would give a -5 Star rating.Tim D.

My fish was 6 years old and has been through many different gravels and plants and water changes. Last night did the first big water change with this gravel and all the color came of in the water and it got cloudy and green. The next day my fish was dead.

Upon reading reviews that the dye runs off the gravel, I figured it would be ok once I rinse the gravel. I rinsed and I rinsed and I rinsed. They dye kept coming..my hands where completely green. I let it sit in a bowl of water and used a wooden spoon to stir - my spoon is now dyed green. It took hours for the pebbles to run clear. I put the pebbles in our tank with our new fish and the fish died within hours. Next day we got new fish and they also died within hours. I’ve had my water tested three times at two different locations and the levels have been great. While I can’t guarantee that this gravel is to blame or even that they’re toxic, I also can’t recommend them due to the chemical run off either! Thankfully Amazon refunded me. Buyer beware.

We will getting more for the other fish tank,was very easy to clean, looks very radiant in green.. great value for the money.

Bought 5 bags of green rocks and 1 bag of purple to mix in. The rocks are beautiful in our tank!!
