RX-10 PET COLLAR
We bought the electronic dog door about 7 years ago. We had the first dog door about 4 years before it gave out. This was not a bad thing to me this was better than i expected. You're right the low level collars are garbage and do nolast very long. They constantly are breaking open and there goes your battery laying somewhere in the back yard never to be found again. That is why we upgraded to the X-10 COLLAR. We have 4 dogs and they have put these collars thru rigirous test daily. My dogs will hear a sound and it is a rush to see who gets to the electronic door first.2 or 3 at a time they all slam against the door hoping to be the first one out. Rain or shine the x-10 has preformed masterfully. The charge usually lasts about 3 weeks but over time usually about 4 years the collar will have to be replaced. I would not doubt that our dog door opens around 75 to 150 times a day. The collars do slip off on occasionsince I put them on a little loose. This is because of the charging prongs. I just remove the charging prongs and leave the threaded part unprotected. I will come home a dog is missing its collar because I chose to fit them loosely, I just throw a spare collar on the dog and if I am being lazy 2-3 days later I will find the collar outside after a few days of rian and it works no problem. To sum it up I am very pleased with the X-10 but it never hurts to have a spare. Picture is our dog family. Yellow lab mix, Spaniel mix and Mother / Daughter German shepard mixes

Works really well.
The collar and the whole dog door and electronic fence by High Tech are great. The collar controls both the door and fence and only needs charging about once a week. High Tech is great to work with. They will step you through repairs if anything on the door breaks like it did when I power washed the porch and got the soapy water into the sensor. (I've had my door and fence three or four years.)The only improvement that I would like would be a little more flexible collar. It is very stiff.

Still holding up
This collar is still holding up after a year of use, and still holds a charge. Some part has broken off, and the test button no longer works, but the collar itself is working. Too bad the collars don't have and adjustable shock level. But my dogs won't leave the yard unless they are in a vehicle.

Do Not buy the Door or this
I loved this door, easy to set up, dogs use it very easily and they are 100 pound labs. Here is the problem. The collars that you have to purchase separately are very poorly made. First I purchased the Ms2. After 2 weeks it fell apart. Next I purchased the MS2A collars rugged. Only wanted the best at that time for my dogs. The way these were designed the door did not always open. Someone said it was due to the way they were made it blocked the signal strength. So when these stopped working 4 months later went back to the MS2 but put electrical tape around it so it would not fall apart. This worked for 2 months then when the batteries died I bought new batteries but they never worked again. So I then decided to purchased the rechargeable RX10 seemed to work great so purchased another one. Next thing you know It will not charge on the charger. Back to check out the new MS5 worked great did not fall apart, Then one day it stopped working thought it was the battery. Bought new batteries, put them in and it does not work. 1 year and a total of 9 collars for 2 dogs and nothing but problems and a total of close to $1000 spent. Have contacted High Tech through their web site but they never respond. I have a grave yard of collars and it stinks. Question now Do I buy a new door or continue spending good money after bad.......Don't buy this door or collars. Research other options it will cost you a fortune.

High Tech Pet Multi-function dog collar, purchased for potential battery life
Smaller High Tech collars were very hard to get at the batteries when they failed. The batteries failed within a month or two and the process to change batteries often left the collar worthless and unusable.I am hoping this collar, which is larger has a better battery which is RECHARGEABLE. It is about twice as expensive as the smaller collars, but I am thinking, bigger collar, bigger battery, longer service.I haven't needed to replace a battery yet, and there is an on/off switch that may enhance battery life.Time will tell and I will report the results if the opportunity is there.

great for what I use them for.
I love these, but I think I use them in a different way than most. I have the automatic dog doors and not the electric fence so I set my dog collars so the electrodes don't touch our dogs by getting collars that allow me to keep the electrodes between the two parts of the collar and just using the function that opens the door, but because they are more doable, (cane corso mastiff that is very active) and it is rechargeable I save money by not buying batteries and having a unit that lasts for my automatic doors which are also great if you don't have those. If you don't have those and you have a fenced in yard, I suggest those as well. It keeps you from having to get up and let the dog out, sounds lazy but if you have a great dog that knows when to let themselves out makes life so much easier.

They don’t last long
Expensive collar, I already have the high tec system in place so I’m stuck reordering the collar ever few months for $90. They stop working after a few months. They still beep but it doesn’t give any shocks, the dogs eventually learn. I even bought warranty on the last one but I can’t figure out how to use the warrenty or find any of the info through Amazon page

Works great
OK, did the research and bought this invisible-type-fence. Followed the easy-to-understand directions, charged and put the collars on, and did a little bit of training, not all that much really. Dogs (2) stay within their boundary, end of story. No headaches, no grief, it just plain works. Dogs now don't wear collars, except maybe once a month for a couple days as reminders.

So far it's been great only took a couple days to train my dog
So far it's been great only took a couple days to train my dog, I have it on a Pom, it's a little big but light enough that it doesnt really matter. Had to replace the collar with a canvas type this one was just too bulky. The packaging of the the product I wasn't pleased with the way the collars were folded, they should be rolled it makes the collar deformed. Another thing with the extra collar is it doesnt come with a set of long and short prongs like the set does only comes with short, makes no sense.

Terrible design
This collar is by far the worst collar design that I have seen for any containment system. It should be a nylon braided collar that is adjustable for all sized breeds. It is bulky, heavy, and has horrid folds in the plastic that don't come out from the way it was packed and shipped - and not suitable for most dogs. We had to go buy new collars and attach the units to suitable collars. Operationally - I would have to say they are quite unreliable. I have 2 dogs and own 3 collars - unfortunately....I do not trust the collars - they don't charge properly quite often and rechargeable batteries need charging every few days. My dogs have been corrected randomly and not been near the boundary at all. These collars are compatible with our dogs power pet door so it is important that the collar works or they can't get in. They don't really need the collar for correction much after a couple days of teaching but it is needed for the power pet door and as a reminder in case the boys decide to escape the yard. Unfortunately we didn't even take our dogs collars out of the box for a few months after we purchased them because we were not ready to set up our containment....which doesn't help with warranty. I am hoping for a collar redesign and better quality collar unit to be available that is compatible with the PAWS system because we have a lot of Hi Tech products and have recommended the power pet door to countless people. Not sure I could recommend the containment system due to the collars being unreliable and all of the wire splicers failed immediately. Hoping hi tech gets the message about selling substandard collars and comes up with a better collar.
