Not what I need
OK, first of all, the product description is incomprehensible. It does, in fact, have male component video connectors at one end and a male HDMI connector at the other end. You can see that much in the photo. I think there wouldn't be so many angry customers if it said what it's actually good for. Notice that the 5-star ratings and raves about the quality (yes, it seems to be well made) almost all have the disclaimer that they got theirs for free for writing a review. Unbiased... sure. A couple of them even mention that they don't even know what this is for! My goodness...I have an older HDTV that has no HDMI ports. I want a Roku, but the Roku2 and Roku3 have only an HDMI port. I want to connect that to my TV. Apparently, this doesn't do that. Well, it *connected* because, as you can see, there are component plugs at one end and and HDMI plug at the other, but apparently, this doesn't make the signal show up on the TV for that configuration. You can connect a water hose to your car's gas tank but it's not going to make your car go. The only people who got any use out of this and *paid* for it seem to use it in the opposite direction, that is, from a device with component video jacks to a TV with an HDMI port. But don't quote me on that, I don't have that situation and can't guarantee that that works, either.I wish I had ignored the reviews with the disclaimers *before* I bought this, because there are quite a lot of them that say this does exactly what I need, but I really don't think any of those people got an HDMI video device to play on their non-HDMI TV's, either. It was only after I got it and hooked it up (and now I have to see if I can figure out how to put what was working before back to working order again) and it didn't work, that I looked at the reviews and noticed that 99% of the reviews that say it does this were from people who got it for free and will probably turn around and sell it on Ebay without ever having plugged it in to anything or even knowing what it does.Seriously, describing its proper function in the description would save customers a lot of grief and anger and would help the seller's reputation a lot. Add me to the list of people returning this product. I have no use for it.

just in case my new TV had a bad port, no dice
I carefully checked the uses and reviews for this product before I purchased it. I am connecting a Component output to my TV HDMI input, no conversion needed. After getting everything connected my TV could not pick up any signal. I even tried a different HDMI port, just in case my new TV had a bad port, no dice. The cable itself is nice quality on the HDMI side, but the Component side is very flimsy. The cables are very thin, and the ends of mine were melted where they enter the braided nylon cord. Color-wise, yes the yellow connection is confusing, but the yellow and white connections are bound together to denote their use as audio connections (use the yellow as your red audio conn.) I had hopes that this would fulfill my needs, but I was sadly mistaken.

Did not work as described
Tried to connect from the HDMI output of my Comcast X1 cable box to my projector in my theater room and it did not work. Description said that it would work for a projector connection. Had to return the item.

Didn't work.
Though appears to be well constructed, it does not work. Don't know if it's a design problem, or faulty item, but in several applications going from an hdmi cable to component input of tv (using a double female hdmi converter) did not work, nor did going directly from Blu-ray hdmi output to component input work. (I tried this with three different TVs) Will attempt return of item.

cord
Not sure if it works or not because I didn't buy the proper cord. If you're trying to hook up a DVD player or anything that is RCA to an HDMI TV this cord alone will not work. You need a converter with a separate hdmi to hdmi cord and an rca cord with the same three colors (red, yellow, white, or red, blue green) on each end. Not really sure what the cord would be used for because it did not work for my TV but that was my fault not the suppliers.

What a crap shoot. From a product rating 4 star and 1 star rating being fairly equal, I was hoping to fall in the 4 star category, no such luck. I tried this cable on multiple devices, nothing. Granted I paid about 10 bucks for it but you'd think you shouldn't have to roll the dice to see if you get a good one or a bad one. The product looks good but looks don't make it work.

Cable did not work for my android device
Item did not work with android device I figure it has to do with something when converting the HDMI signal to the other type of plug into a older television. I found a different converter box that states it will do this but cost $60. So if you're buying this cable for a DVD player I believe it would work but for some device that has a scrambled signal it may not work .

dissatisfied eith product
Very disatisfied with product because cord broke off from the hdmi part of the product and I was not able to use either cable, because I purchased two of the cable wires.
