SilenX Ixtrema Pro IXP-74-11 - 120mm Quiet Case Fan The new SilenX Ixtrema Pro Series Quiet Fans feature the first fan blade designed for optimal airflow and aerodynamics. SilenX iXtrema Pro Series Quiet Fans are the result of thousands of hours of testing and fluid dynamics simulations. The result is a fan that can push more air per revolution at lower noise levels than any other fan available and proof that SilenX delivers the best in silent computing. Reduced motor size, increase fan blade surface, lower lateral surface area on the motor vanes along with silicon-composite fan mounts puts this fan above the rest. Very quiet 120mm fan
This fan will run at a medium RPM on a fan controller more quietly than many fans cranked all the way down. Of course, many of those fans are less $$, but if your desktop is actually on a desktop, cutting down the noise is desireable. Just note that the fan is not actually chrome as some pics may lead you to believe. It is a 'brown chrome' and doesn't reflect light as much if you're looking for bright/colorful bling-bling.

Not silent, but best compromise of air flow and noise I've tried so far!
My computer is in my bedroom and needs to be quiet but still keep the computer relatively cool. These are the best I've tried so far. I have three of them in the box, plus a 120mm Mascool fan, plus a 220mm Antex fan, a 92mm CPU fan, and an Antec 120mm power supply fan, and it's quiet enough to sleep with. Computer stays cool.

Avoid -- Unless you don't care about the components it's supposed to protect
I depended on this fan to pump cool air into my system. At over $30 it should be far better. It lasted about a year and failed. As a result, my (expensive) video card melted down. I'm out $250 to fix it. Thanks for nothing. When I pulled the fan, the bearings had frozen--it would barely turn at all. I'll know better next time.

Perfect
Silent, and thin. Awesome fan. Amazon was the cheapest place to buy one of these. Rubber Grommets were a plus.
