Whether you are the new student or the expert, you will not only get a lot out of this book, but you will go back to it over and over again.This isn’t your tips and tricks of comedy book. Gunnar masterfully breaks down how to build characters and scenes. He leaves you with a multitude of examples so you can study on your own with any television comedy. He breaks down what works and what doesn’t, scene and script structure, and the many different ways writers make us, the audience, laugh.There are so many helpful resources to quickly refer back to, that there isn’t a way you can only open this book once. Highly Recommended!

This book is truly a piece of work! By 'piece of work', I naturally mean 'incredibly useful and a requirement for all actors/comedy writers/various other labels'... Anyone seeking better understanding of the comedic process.This book has helped me understand my yellow human being a lot better than before, since it feels like we are living characters in dark comedy TV show. Wait for the next season.It's had to put down, too! For real, I almost broke my knee putting this heavy book down. It's so chuck-full of information that it's massive. I'd like to thank the author of this book for putting everything you need to know in one book. Most authors try to get by spreading out what they know into 3 or 4 books.In all seriousness; this book is a legit part of your possible upcoming success.... Unless you're a failure. Then at least you have a great book around to counteract all of your sadness.

Amazing information. Amazing organization. This book is an invaluable resource to any actor or anyone interested in studying sitcoms! I thought I'd read it once and enjoy, but I'm going to need to reread and absorb over and over again until it's part of my being, and even then I'll probably keep it on hand to reference.

Highly recommended. In this book, one of Hollywood's top comedy coaches breaks down his techniques. A more comprehensive and informative book on comedy structure and technique doesn’t exist because Gunnar shows you how to approach comedic acting and writing in ways that the others don't. After reading it I felt like I was just let in on a secret... This book is an invaluable tool for both writers and actors so if you're serious about either of those pursuits do yourself a favor and add this book to your library. You'll be so glad you did when you are prepping your next audition or rewriting your script.

This is like the ultimate comedy Bible for actors ! I learned so much about sitcoms that I didn't know before from using this book with the Comedy Essentials class that I took at the same time. It's jam-packed with information on different aspects like archetypes, operatives words, intentions, etc. Gunnar put a lot of hard work over 6 years into writing this book, and it shows. I'll definitely be referring to this book often and will recommend to every actor from this day forth!
