High Strange New Mexico - 3 DVD Set

Uneven, mostly interesting, best info available elsewhere (cheaper)
I love a good conspiracy theory! I have never seen an alien or UFO, but I like studying this stuff and have a nice collection of material growing. Most of the material in this 3 DVD set appears to be from approximately 1995.The first pair of discs could almost pass for a low-budget UFO-ist travel commercial for New Mexico. It was done in the 90s, most likely recorded on some kind of VHS camcorder.Discs one and two are interviews, with the majority of material being split between a woman studying tribal art on rocks in New Mexico as an archeologist, then author Jim Marrs being chatted up at a convention on his UFO findings. The archeologist's material was fairly new to me, but not definitive or compelling. Material around her was also far from ground breaking, but nice slice-of-life UFO-fan documentary. Jim Marrs has great information to share, but what was presented here was quite dated, and you can get much more volume (and current research, at that) from his "Fourth Reich" book. The last DVD is the best. It's all Phil Schneider, and he has an amazing story about aliens or alien hybrids in a Deep Underground Military Base, and the shootout between Phil and the U.S. engineers and black berets against the aliens, that left 66 human casualties. It all seems beyond belief. He sounds credible, but the story is just way out there. He went on to talk about the coverup, alien control, predicted coming dictatorship and mass imprisonment (that never happened), but presented just enough material that seemed viable to warrant further investigation. (Again, true or not, I think this stuff is a hoot!) There are only 2 shortcomings of his DVD. First is the low recording quality. Audio is rough in places, and this entire audio/video recording probably came from an an old VHS tape recorder, burned to DVD. Second is the fact that Phil Schneider made largely the same speech in at least a couple venues, and you can find them with the same facts presented for free on Youtube. Since Phil died in early 1996, the speech was almost certainly from 1995. Is his story true? I don't know, but it's fascinating. Having his story on a permanent DVD (well, to the extent that anything is "permanent") made the set for me. He's very smart, and speaks credibly; on the other hand, for the first 45 minutes or more of his presentation, I don't think he blinked 3 times. Curious...To me, this is a $10 or $12 DVD set. Anything more is too high. I'd like to learn more about Phil, though.

THE MOST SINISTER MOVIE I'VE SEEN THIS YEAR
CIVILIZATION IN ROSWELL THREATENED BY IDENTITY - CRISIS?Before I saw the trailer for Paranormal Activity , I had seen this documentary at home and weeped within for the sorrow of those who have lost all sense of national identity over the UFO - ET issue. It's OK to consider yourself to be a 'starseed'or an 'alien'operating on this planet , but for goodness think don't make that take away your belief in yourself as an American! An American can be an Aryan or a black or a Native American or even an arab or a moslem or even an alien who has been here for over 100 years and is adopted fully to American society and way of life. But the point is , people have become so obsessed with being aliens they want to be 'the aliens'instead of caretakers of this planet. Thus they ignore the underlying message concerning the importance of modern UFO litterature whereas heavy emphasis on the importance of the environment is concerned. This film intends to be a serious UFO movie , but it evolves into something much more when I sense it's protest against identity crisis and the cry over the familiar experience of existential angst which has been so common for so many people who experience UFO related events.I find myself to be very fortunate to own the copy I bought , and I and my friend immediately sensed a message telling us that the human race is at present also a form of 'high strangeness'operating on this planet , including and most specifically New Mexico. I am so sad that so many people have lost all sense of national identity. Instead of identifying with who they are on this planet they identify way too much with being from somewhere else than they have used to be.Nothing wrong with that - but some of the people in this film , that is some of those who had not been interviewed , behaved like they didn't know where America is to be found on the map! They were that far away in my view from their national identity - that is they had very little level of self awareness. I am not telling amazon.com there is anything wrong with this absolutely fantastic DVD. I am asking people to consider the protest the film experiences on the issue of identity crisis. My favourite gentleman in the movie was the one who had delved into folkloristics and tried to approax the UFO issue from that point of view. I also loved the author of We , the Arcturians and felt moved and amazed to discover that she has photographs of such individuals as those she describes in her book - or the photographs may be fake depending on the views of the reeader - at least I find her testimony to be highly credible. I think this documentary should be made into a movie featuring dark ambient songs that describe the progress of American society from day 1 after Roswell when it comes to discuss all the UFO related events which occured since.I wish I could explain in more detail how pleased I am with the overall content of the film and all the interviews and the cast and the crew. If we all fall into identity crisis like I experienced myself a few years ago and many others have experienced it is important to understand that it's always possible to let go of the identity crisis once you're ready to let go of it. But letting go may be difficult to start with but eventually it'll suceed and THEN you're read to undergo more thorough research into these matters and meet up with more people who are also enthusiastic and have had their UFO - ET experiences but saw it fit to keep both feet on the ground and not let their minds go get blown away , or worse....zapped! One of the most amazing persons in the film was a guy who owns a UFO library that's way bigger than the one I presently own , and photographs of UFO events taking place in Roswell which are still happening today.wishing the producers good luck!!!!

Low-budget but amazingly well-done
I absolutely love this documentary--it's low-budget and has a sort of homemade feel to it, but that feeling never detracts from the absolute (fairly presented) weirdness of everything that the documentary addresses: aliens, abductions, cattle mutilations, alien-worshipping cults, UFOs, petrogylphs of E.T.s, new age vibrations, et cetera--and all from right here, right here in New Mexico.Any fan of New Mexico, of aliens and UFOs, or of the strange in general, would do very well to get themselves a copy of this documentary. It is very, very entertaining, and it's easy to see why this has become such a sought-after cult classic.I named my weekly column of strange New Mexico history and lore "My Strange New Mexico," as an allusion to this film's title, before I had ever even seen this, and when I finally did watch this--as required viewing for a college class--I found myself with enough topics for another two dozen columns, easy."High Strange New Mexico" is one of the best examples I have ever seen of a driven young filmmaker taking only very little money and the resources he had right at home and then making them into something quality, something lasting.Highly, highly, highly recommended. Watch it!
