Adobe Illustrator CC For Dummies

Depends what you are looking at from a book - if you are looking to learn then this will be a very slow way to do so reading about each functionality (although the descriptions are fantastic). If you are proficient in using illustrator and just need to look a few things up and see hints and tips this is the book for you!

I've had this book for several weeks and decided to give a negative review because I expected a better Dummy book. Wanted a book for reference but this book lacks details and substance. Book didn't offer much details on keyboard shortcuts; the suggested download hotkey file is not comprehensive; difficult to navigate. Learning basic pen tool using this book is frustrating, not explained very well. If you want to learn the program, skip this book. Not worth buying!

This book is an excellent reference guide. The table of contents is divided into twenty chapters with corresponding sections for each chapter. I suppose the book can be read from front to back; however, I find it most helpful for quick reference needs. If you use Adobe's Creative Cloud, you have access to a variety of video tutorials. The book allows me to quickly address my questions/reference needs. When I opt to view Adobe's tutorials, the book serves as a nice complement.The color illustrations and tips are also helpful.
