Well-Ordered Language Level 1A: The Curious Child's Guide to Grammar (Revised Edition)

While I appreciate the conversational style of this curriculum, it seems way too wordy to hold a child’s attention. Perhaps it’s because we are used to doing workbook style where there’s a brief introduction and not so much to read. It’s also possibly due to the fact that we all have ADD. I feel that I would lose my children’s attention with this rather quickly, or if they were doing it on their own they would be overwhelmed. I realize that the worksheet sections are not as wordy, just the introduction to each topic. It may be helpful for parents to use as a guide for themselves so that they can then quickly/simply explain it to their child. Or if a child has the attention span to read or listen to all of it, it does explain things in a fun and simple way. Just takes a long time doing so! We will be returning this one and sticking with workbook style. I’m including a picture of our current curriculum (same level and considered advanced by many homeschoolers) alongside a picture of this one to show the difference. It’s not covering the same topic, but all of the topics are introduced in this brief format. I impulsively purchased this because the description sounded so appealing, but we will be returning it and continuing to use our current materials.

I used this for my daughter and have purchased a second copy for my son. They lay everything out so clearly that my kids look at me like this is very obvious. Put parts of speech and diagraming sentences were really hard according to my memory of childhood.Love this series!

The description of this product states that it’s the revised edition, however it is not — this is the first edition. It does not match my sons workbook and I will need to return it.

Myself and another teacher found this to be frustrating for the student and teacher alike since the terms are not defined and they expect the child to know and use grammar terms without ever teaching the terms or use. The material is presented in a professional manner and is visually appealing., however the content is frustrating. This was marketed as a stand alone easy way to have a child learn, but it really is not. I do not recommend.
