The mesh is NOT too fine, but there is a trick to suing these.
Despite the complaints that the mesh is too fine and won't let the dirty water drain, I decided to give these a shot. I am glad I did. At first I did experience some difficulty in getting my full size FA rotary tumbler to drain. It gave every appearance that the mesh was indeed too fine and clogged easily; however, when I removed and checked the screen, it wasn't clogged at all. running tap water over the screen showed almost no restriction at all and If I poured the water out of the drum slowly, never wetting the top half of the screen, the water would drain. I wanted to drain quickly to flush as much dirt and soap out of the drum as I could so I had to keep experimenting. I quickly discovered that the problem draining was actually a vacuum lock. With the screen completely wet, the surface tension of the water on the mesh would prevent air from getting into the drum. All I had to do to "unclog" the screen was loosen the cap on the other end of the drum to break the vacuum seal and all the water cam rushing out. Now that I know the trick, I am getting 5-star performance, but since the screens ship with no instructions at all, and using them on the mini-tumbler would be a nightmare (it only has one opening, so breaking the vacuum would be difficult) I am docking one star.

Not necessary
I bought this because I THOUGHT it would make it easier to separate the media. What I ended up doing was remove the clear caps and put the slotted caps on both ends of the tumbler, put it in a 5 gallon bucket half full of water and ran a hose through the top, rotating the tumbler until the water comes out clear. Then I removed the slotted cap and poured the contents of the tumbler into the bucket. I poured most of the water out and removed the cases leaving the media in the bottom of the bucket, I poured the media and the remaining water on a piece of cloth, the water drains through the cloth and eventually the media will dry out. Actually, I'm not sure how the straining caps would be useful at all.

These should come standard with tumbler
These make draining the water and rinsing the cases so much easier. Once the tumbling cycle is done, attach one of these on one end of the tumbler, turn it over to drain, open up the other side and rinse the cases off. I then use a media separator to separate the cases from the pins. This keeps the pins from having to be separated from the dirty water.

Clogged right off the bat, wouldn't dump the tumbling solution
I was hoping that these screens would be a great addition to my tumbler but when I received them I was a little concerned regarding how fine the mesh was. Anyway I filled my Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series tumbler about half full with 45 colt and 45 acp brass (maybe 400 or so pieces, pins and cleaning solution and a drop of Dawn dish soap and let it run for a while until the brass was cleaned.Let it be known that I shoot mainly black powder cartridge so I need a strong cleaning solution to get the results I like.As usual when opening the media container there was suds caused by the cleaning solution and Dawn. I inserted the screen and took it outside to dump.I could only get about 1/4 of the water to dump and then no matter what I did including shaking and flipping the container over, I could not get any more water out. I removed the screen to see that the tub still had most of the water in it so I installed the old included strainer and finished the job. After the tub was empty I filled it with water and tried again and it dumped fine. I can only surmise that the combination of brass, pins and suds clogged the screen.I'll have another batch to wash in about 3 or 4 weeks and at that time I will use the Frankford Arsenal cleaning solution instead of what I normally use and not add the Dawn and see if the brass comes out as clean and if in fact I can now dump the dirty cleaning solution. I'll update this review after that cleaning.UPDATE: Same issue using only the Frankford Arsenal cleaning solution. Screens are useless, waste of $10

Amazing
I've been working on different crazy ideas to do something like this for my full sized Frankford Tumbler literally for years and this is the single greatest item for solving my issue. I absolutely HATE the "strainer" caps that came with the tumbler as their separation of pins was terrible. With this item I've created a 5 gallon draining bucket (cut a hole in the lid just large enough for the cap of the tumbler drum to fit) and using this mesh I've successfully drained and rinsed my tumbled brass all within the tumbler drum. I drain the tumbler into a media separator with the turning crank style bin full about 3/4 of the way with clean water to do the final pin separation and like magic I've not had any issues with lost pins.

Saves Pins and Effort
Got these today and they work perfectly. Water flowed freely while pins were contained inside of the Franklin Tumbler (full size). Have read that some folks have had problem with them clogging but I had zero problems. All I can say is that if they clog you must have A LOT of debris not normally found in casings.

Not worth the purchase
I have a lot of the Frankford Arsenal products. Many are god but many don't live up to expectations. This DID NOT. OK I have to echo previous reviews of this item. What were they thinking the concept is sound execution flawed. The idea ( I assume) is to empty the tumbler of the dirty water after cleaning is complete, right, keeping the brass in the steel media in the tumbler. PROBLEM the mess is too FINE!! the water is unable to drain from the tumbler. FA needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.

These should come with all of their tumbler kits
These work great. MUCH better than the wide open grill type caps that come with the kits that are virtually useless for initially rinsing your batch. I can thoroughly rinse the brass and pins before even dumping anything out. Then just need to separate the pins after tumbling in a separator submerged in more water. I use the wet/dry media separator filled with water and it works perfectly.

A simple addition to a great brass wet tumbler
A simple addition to an already great brass wet tumbler! You don't bucket sieves or stainless steel pin magnets with this simple value add product. Frankford Arsenal should just include it with the tumbler along with the coarse plastic strainer end caps.

Franklin strainers
If you have a Franklin case cleaner, you need this. So easy to dump the dirty water out and not loose the stainless pins down the drain or in the sink.
