A must
I have been a Bee Gees fan since the first time I heard Lonely Days in 1970. I was 5 years old. I really because a fan with the Saturday Night Fever and Spirits Having Flown era, but at that time, all I knew of their earlier work was Run To Me, Lonely Days, How Can You Mend, and I think i might have heard Mass. once or twice. I found this record in the store and decided to check out their older material, and fell in LOVE with songs liek To Love Somebody, My World, I Can't See Nobody and all the other great tunes on this best of compilation. Most of these songs are on the Tales Of The Brothers Gibb box set, but the mixing is different. I think the original mixing is here on Gold, and I like it best. A must have for any Bee Gees fan, even if you have all these songs elsewhere.

My favorite Bee Gees Album
I know the Bee Gees became super stars during the disco days, but before that was their best work in my opinion. I have this album still, with no turntable to play it on. I wish Barry would consider releasing it on CD for those of us that loved this style better than the disco. I hated disco music and although I understood why they were recording it, I always wanted the old Bee Gees back. Their last album that they recorded together "This is Just Where I Came In" was getting back to their roots with some great songs on it, it still couldn't touch this rare album.

Collector's Item
Originally released as an album and cassette in 1976, this collection and a one LP version of 'Odessa' were released to remind people that before "Jive Talkin'" and "Night On Broadway", there was anothor style the Bee Gees were famous for. This album contained the biggest hits from the sixties period ("Massachusetts", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You") through their early seventies period ("Lonely Days", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart"). All Top Twenty hits with a few #1 hits thrown in made for a nice reminder compilation. Never in anyone's wildest dreams did they think that within one year they would hit their peak (1977) and surpass that in 1978-1979. This is a great set - too bad it isn't available on compact disc, but it is available on this very rare 8-Track tape. Who cares about the audio quality. This is a real keeper!
