Kai Pure Komachi 2 8-Piece Knife Set

I absolutely love these knives! The set contains every knife you could need for all cooking & prep work. The only knife I wish had been included in this set is the sandwich knife which I use frequently, but I just purchased it separately.PROS-Very sharp! These knives are just as high quality (if not, higher quality) than some of the more expensive upscale knife sets you can purchase.-Love the colors!-Easy to clean (handwash only though!)-Awesome price!CONS-I wouldn't consider this a con myself, but if you are looking for a complete set of knives (including steak knives) this probably isn't the set for you. If you don't mind having separate sets of steak knives and cooking knives then you will be okay with this set.-Personally I think the knife block you can buy for these is hideous so if you want a block this probably isn't the best set to get. They all come with their own sleeve (there might be one that doesn't) so you can easily store them in a drawer without fear of them getting dull.

I purchased these knives as a gift for my husband, who loves to cook. They work very well, and he enjoys using them, but the handles are really small. When I first gave them to him, he slipped and cut himself a couple of times when using them because he found it hard to get a comfortable grip on them. These knives are very sharp! I would say these are better suited for someone with small to average to hands. The handles are a bit too small for someone with larger hands to comfortably and safely use them. Other than that, they are really good knives. I have used them to cut through chicken bones and other tough foods, and they are really effective. As other reviewers have said, they are lightweight and attractive. We use magnetic knife strips to store them, and they look very nice hanging in our kitchen.

The knives are great but you need to purchase a special knife holder -- which should have been sold along with the knifes. These knifes will not fit into your regular knife holder, so i am forced to put these knifes in a drawer until i purchase the special holder, which is another $45...beware!

I was looking for a gift set for my daughter who is very artistic. These colorful knives seemed just right.So I bought them and gave them a look when they arrived.The knives were very sharp and cut paper easily out of the box. I'm not sure how long the edge will last in use, but these are made by Kai, the maker of Shun knives which are tops, so I expect them to be all right. I confess I was a little put off by the pre-school colors, but in the end they seemed bold and playful, and definitely get noticed in the kitchen.There is an option of a clear plastic block for these, for about $30 more. I judged it would be too big for her tiny apartment kitchen and bought a magnetic knife rack instead, which displays them beautifully. So in the end I would rate these as good medium budget knives and good for those whose taste or decor they match.

Don't expect quality service from these people. They tried to strong arm me when they made an error misrepresenting their product and sending me one of the knives in the wrong color. Then they told me the company doesn't make the knife in that color anymore as if it were some kind of justification for sending me a product other than the one I ordered. After several messages back and forth I just decided it wasn't worth it to have any further dealings with this company. The knives themselves are of great quality though and I would absolutely recommend anyone to buy them. Just don't purchase them from BigKitchen or you'll regret it.

I made a mistake thinking these knives were ceramic! This brand was shown under "ceramic knives" in listing, so I failed to read the details. Amazon refunded my return shipping cost,But seller "starr" hit me with a rescuing charge. SO,beware of secondary seller's return rules.

Picked up the knives a couple months ago, after getting tired of only having a half set of walmart hand me downs that i felt i had to sharpen every other time i used them. Extremely impressed with the sharpness, and so far they've kept their edge. They are surprisingly light, but the knife styles are typically used for jobs where thats preferred. Supplement the set with a butcher knife if you're cutting through bones.The colors are great, specially if you're trying to avoid the overplayed stainless steel and black look.As others have stated, they didn't fit in my knife block. Wasn't keen on the idea of the clear block, as counter space is at a premium. I picked up a magnetic knife rack, as they deserve to be shown.Assuming they keep their edge, definitely a fantastic purchase.
