Much better than Chevy OEM Hitch
I replaced an OEM Chevy hitch on my Silverado 2500 HD because the hole for the pin had become elongated and the 2" receiver was about 1/4" too tall so the hitch shank wobbled a lot. To give it a bit of credit it was about 15 years old so it did provide good service to me.However, this Curt hitch was much thicker and more sturdy in ALL aspects. The steel tubing is thick, the brackets are about twice as thick, and the chain connections are extremely solid. This hitch is also about twice the weight of the OEM version...I could not have installed it without using a floor jack to keep it up in the air while I installed the bolts. It took me about 40 minutes to remove the old hitch and install this new one. Probably 10 minutes of that was unpacking the new hitch and its related hardware. Note that on my Silverado the attachment points were slightly different, but it all lined up correctly on the frame and the supplied hardware made installation a breeze. I did notice that this hitch does NOT bolt to the bumper itself, whereas the OEM hitch did include two bolts for the bumper. Nonetheless this hitch still feels rock solid and it DOES include a 3rd connection point to the frame -- I guess they provided that instead of bolting to the bumper (which never seemed to make much sense to me anyway).

I cannot recommend this hitch enough
I purchased this hitch about a year ago as of writing this since the factory hitch was not up to the task of towing a 10,000 lb trailer I had just purchased. I cannot recommend this hitch enough.Installation was a breeze with an impact gun and large torque driver. All holes lined up perfectly on my 2009 GMC 2500HD short bed. Took less than 15 minutes to remove the factory hitch and install this one in its place. The fit is high and snug to the bumper. The receiver actually contacts the bumper plastic slightly, but the hitch is so solid that there are no signs of rub.As for durability, I have been more than impressed. The best praise that I can give is its performance during an emergency. I suffered a tire blowout on the right side of a 13,000 lb trailer. Both tires deflated simultaneously (likely due to small road debris; I wasn't the only person to suffer a tire casualty along that stretch of road that day) dropping the right side of the trailer to the ground at 65 mph. By the time I reached the side of the road (fighting a bucking trailer in heavy traffic the whole way) the tires were completely wrapped around the axles, the wheels were ruined, and (most disturbingly) the axles shackles were almost completely ground away. I'm confident the factory hitch would have twisted up like wet spaghetti, but this Curt showed no signs of stress.

Fit great. Heavy duty
2004 Chevy 2500HD. Perfect fit. About twice the weight of factory unit. High quality, nice welds and paint throughout. Only gripe, should provide a plug bracket for this price. Still highly recommended.

Perfect fit. 2001 and 2004.5 Chevy 2500HD Duramax
Installed on 2001 and 2004.5 Chevy 2500HD Duramax. No drilling required. It is replacing the factory Category IV hitch that rusted in half in two places.Very pleased with the ease of installation and the quality of the hitch itself. It uses the existing bumper to frame bolts (2) which is why Curt is specific about having a stock bumper. Otherwise without a stock bumper you will be drilling two holes. The other four mounting holes are through existing frame holes. Curt provides the new hardware. The spare tire will return to its original mounting space.Curt uses 5/16 steel to make this hitch. Nice heavy steel. I chose this hitch because I use five different receivers and I didn't want to use a sleeve. Most Cat 5 hitches use a 2.5" receiver, and all mine are 2". This hitch is designed for 2" receivers. This was the cheapest price I could find for this hitch.

Great hitch, much better and stronger than factory one.
My factory hitch was only rated at 7,500 lbs which is pretty light for a HD 2500 truck which can two twice that. The class 5 hitch was very easy to install, I did not even remove my spare tire as the instructions suggested. Bolted right into existing holes easily, did it myself with no jack and no helper, took maybe 10 minutes. The only extra work was installing a bracket for the 7-pin connector since the factory one was welded to the old hitch. Very happy with this hitch, it actually sits higher than the factory hitch right up against the bumper and looks better than the original one.

Original bolts not long enough
Nice heavy duty hitch only problem I couldn’t reuse the original bumper bolts because this hitch is a lot thicker than the stock one so the threads only went half way through the weld nut on the frame. Most people would probably use them anyway or wouldn’t even notice. It it included longer 14mm bolts it would be 5 star

A must if you tow anything heavy
Wow this is an improvement over the OEM hitch! I was able to install this myself, took about 25 minutes with removal of the OEM hitch and my IQV20 impact. OEM bolts are 21mm, the 2 on the bumper and the two closest to the bumper are threaded into the frame. The other 2 on each side require a wrench. Plenty of room to install this with out dropping the spare. You use the 2 OEM bolts closest to the hitch and it comes with new hardware for the other 4 bolts, they are 19mm. Very easy to install, much stronger than OEM. Only issue I had was my banks exhaust lightly contacted it, I just took my angle grinder and took about 1/8" off for some clearance and sprayed it black. Very happy and highly recommended!

Fits great. Over size spare tire doesn't fit anymore.
Fitment is grate. But my over size spare 285/75/16 won't fit anymore. I'm assuming that the stock 245/75/16 would still fit but haven't tried

Very strong well built hitch.
The hitch itself is well built and very strong. It handles the 12,000 lb trailer that I pull very well, much better than the stock hitch that it replaced. I did not receive the proper hardware with the hitch. However, after a couple of emails, with pictures of what I received for nuts, Curt made it good by sending the proper flanged nuts to me by courier. I have no hesitation in recommending this product to a potential customer. My only suggestion for improvement would be to weld mounting bracket similar to the OEM one on the stock hitch for the trailer plug to mount to. I took my old one off of my stock hitch, and welded it onto the Curt hitch.Other reviews have included pictures of this installation along with comparison side by side photos of the stock hitch and the Curt hitch.

Easy to install and this sucker is a beast
Easy to install and this sucker is a beast. Tucks up nice under the truck between the frame and sits no lower than factory. Definitely a nice upgrade considering the factory hitch is under rated for my 06 Duramax.

Easy bolt up
Replaced the stock 7500lb hitch. This CURT 15302 bolted onto my 2004 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 Extended Cab pick-up as advertised.
