Bang for the buck
A must have for astrophotography, providing a good compromise in term of zoom and framing. The wide aperture allow for good frames, even with small exposures for not top notch, even no tracking device. I recomand using a bathinov mask to assure sharp pictures. On regular usage, it is also a great lens for the price, manual focusing might seems a bit scary, but there is ways around it (successive closing shot, choosing the best one).Overall it's pretty solid, most of what you pay is for optic and trusty buid, on the other hand, no automatic aperture or focusing. As it's quite heavy, an attachment on the lense itself for quick plate fixation would have been a big plus for the sake of balancing, be carefull of the tripod/head you use with this.

Solid, razor sharp
I bought this lens for astrophotography, the F2 allows enough light to capture even small deepnsky objects.I have also used it for bird photography, while the manual focus (there is no AF) makes shooting birds in motion tricky, when I did hit the mark the image was tack sharp.Build quality is great, fairly heavy for it's size due to solid build. The apature selector ring has good tactile stops (not needed on my D5600 as this is handled in cam)The focus ring is nice and stiff/smooth, doesn't move by accident. All in all a very solid and good quality lens, at this price you can't go wrong.Just remember, this lens is not a zoom, it is a prime 135mm and it does not have autofocus regardless of your camera.Highly recommended!

Returned After Two Days
The optics on this lens is perfect. Being a manual lens I knew I would have to manually focus for every shot. Not a problem. However, as there are no electronics at all, the EXIF data is for the shot is not recorded. No way to know the f-stop and exposure after taking the picture. I like to have this information handy when editing. Also, the lens is quite heavy. Would be good if there was a tripod bracket available for the lens. With some searching you may be able to find something that will fit. Also noticed some play between the lens and the camera when mounted. Did not seem to affect the sharpness of the images though. May be alright, but my other lenses do not have this movement with them. As the focus ring on the lens is quite tight, I could feel the lens shift every time I had to focus. As I said, it doesn't appear to affect image quality, but it did bother me.

perfect optics, bad build quality
I had this lens for a couple of days. The optics are just perfect! Sharper than my 85 and 105. Bokeh is excellent and there is no chromatic abberation. It is also able to resolve a lot of detail again better than my 85 1.8G and 105 2.8. I dont find the manual focus a drawback. The focus ring in fact is so smooth and a joy to use. I tested it for astrophotography and the stars up to the corners are perfect and pinpoint, plus the f2 was able to collect a lot of light. I gave it 1 star because the build quality is really bad. When you hold the lens it feels solid in your hand and i dont mind the plastics, but i have doubts on how was it assembled and if it can last with normal use. On the second day as i was twisting of the hood to remove it the middle part of the lens barrel came loose, the part just below the focus ring. It came loose and would freely rotate 360 degrees! It is the barrel where the focus markings are printed. No matter what i do it would not stay in place and would not re tighten. This never happened to any of my lenses. This one broke in just two days under normal handling! Its a shame because the optics are just perfect, but that is all you pay for, the optics. The build quality is probably full of shortcuts and quality control is hit and miss. Is the lens held together inside with what? Glue? For the barrel to easily come loose like that. I returned the lens and lost faith on this brand. No more Rokinon/Samyang for me. Again I really missed its optical performance.
