Mean Time Between Failure 2.5 years
Update: Turned out to be the reset button on the side needed to be reset. Back up and running 2.5 years and still going!Ordered this back in July of 2016, best thing we have ever bought if you ask us. We use it for everything involved with eating or drinking and cooking. It has finally failed after only 2 years, 6 months but hey. As much as this sucker is running. I am not surprised as anything mechanical\electrical will eventually have a failure. Contacting support now, I am not to worried since we have another one in storage we will use until this one is fix. (lucky for us our friends sold us theirs a little while ago).btw, soak the evap tank with pure vinegar once in a while works WAY better than the cleaning powder sold for it. Also had to replace the drain valve as the original one went bad (seal broke inside it)

Parts Don't Fit
Two of the legs that go on the tank have the wrong angles. They fit on the unit only on one side, but the legs go on both sides. Wrong parts.. How frustrating! It means I have to pack everything up and ship it back and then wait another 6-12 more weeks to get it. What a waste.

This is a must have!
This is my first water distiller. I have been drinking nothing but distilled for years and miraculously the minerals have not been leeched from my system like the media would like you to believe. Nothing is better than pure water! The initial setup wasn't easy I had to have help, but I already anticipated that. Once the machine is up and running you don't have to do a thing though. Filter change every six months and a weekly tank drain to remove the impurities the distillation process has uncovered. (Simply open a valve and drain into a pitcher) previously over the years I have used a water delivery service which costs about $100 a month, not to mention my water is sitting in a plastic cooler breeding bacteria! This unit will pay for itself and is self sterilizing. I couldn't be happier!

Best distill I have used for years
I work for as a High school Science Lab Tech with 25 plus teachers. I bought is this distiller for our department. It is an automatic distiller, which means when the reserve tank fills it turns itself off. When the reserve tank gets low it turns itself on to refill it. Our distillers (I have three of these with 10 gallon reserve tanks) are connected to our water supply directly with it own shut valve so I can turn off the water supply to the machine when I need to change out the filters. The only other maintenance required it to clean the boiler tank every month or two to get rid of mineral deposits in the tank. I use food grade citric acid powder ( 2 cups ) into a full boiler tank with the lid off over night or, let the boiler cook the tank water for 45 minutes. I then drain the tank. Next I fill the tank 3 times with tap water and drain it each time. Next I fill the tank full of distilled water and then drain that water. Lastly, I fill the take again with distilled water and turn it on so it can start making distill water again. One user said they use vinegar to clean the boiler tank. Vinegar is a mild acid like Citric acid so it works also. Make sure to rinse the boiler well after cleaning. I have had my distillers for almost 7 years working everyday. I bought ours directly from Durastill, and one from Durastill on Amazon last year.
