Led Zeppelin: The Oral History of the World's Greatest Rock Band

Ottimo

One of the Best!
I read this book is total amazement - its told by many people connected with the band therefore we get a different side of the story- more like filling in the gaps of the legendary LZ. (name escapes me) one of Jimmy Pages teen friends gives a quote how when Jimmy was a session man he used to go out and but the record he played on. Engineer Andy Johns tells about getting Jonesy a Kelloggs Corn Flakes jingle to arrange. What I am getting at is theres stuff in this book that die hard LZ fans will read for the first time Mr Hoskyns has done his homework and gone beyond! (He has authored another LZ book too !) Theres alot of reading here too - so happy researchin! Definitely an addition to your collection! Thanks :)

Really enjoyed this. I like the structure and hearing all the different voices; very interesting on what made the band great as musicians too. I liked hearing from the engineers and the techs and the record office staff. Could even have been longer!Only criticism: Wish the author hadn't referred to some of the women as things like X's LA. 'squeeze'. Some of what happened reads today as exploitative, especially the under-age sex, and words like 'squeeze' don't recognise this and are demeaning young women who were 14 or 15 years old at the time.
