Great product for last minute dinners and very simple to prepare. Taste good as well but is better if you a extra Porchini (Italian mushrooms) and sprinkle with some Parmesan or Pecorino cheeseOne pack comes to $4 that is not super cheap especially if you consider that one pack is really for one person (not two) . Great for camping as well

The description needs to be changed. I ordered the mushroom risotto thinking I'll receive the porcini mushroom risotto like it's written in the description. There are no porcini mushrooms listed in the ingredients, this is made with shiitake mushrooms!I had it last night for dinner and it wasn't bad, thanks to some truffle oil and parmesan cheese I added for flavor. Without those added ingredients this risotto would be pretty bland and not tasty like the porcini mushrooms would make it. I don't think I'll order it again.

I just tried this tonight, after buying a set of multiple packages in the Prime Day sale. The taste and texture are good--it's very simple, just rice in a creamy base it absorbs, but would be easy to dress up. I used it under sauteed vegies and with fresh herbs on top. I bought this to try out and then take on a backpacking trip and as something handy to keep in the pantry. BUT-- I feel a bit conned by the Prime Day deal. Sure, I saved a few dollars--but the packages have a "best used by" date of only a month from now. I feel as if the sale was being used to unload stock that was about to expire. No one uses that many boxes of something like rice all at once. If the expiration date had been further out, I'd give four stars for taste/texture. I don't think this will go "bad" in the box five weeks from today--but the flavor and texture here being a bit nicer are the only thing that sets this off from ordinary rice.

The label says that you can make this risotto in 12 minutes. It took me about 35, and there was still a bit more liquid than I would like; I finally decided to just let it sit on the cooling burner to absorb the last bit of liquid.The flavor, however, is excellent. Cheesy, but not overpoweringly so. I'd definitely order it again.

Got hooked on this risotto from my local grocer, but then they stopped carrying it. Glad to find it here! It's a quick and easy side dish or meal. The four cheese is delicious, but I usually add extra cheese and cream for more flavor. If you love risotto but hate the effort, this is idiot-proof! Throw it in a pot and it practically cooks itself. The taste and smell is strong and could be an acquired taste as initially I was not sure I enjoyed it. After a while I grew to love it, however, my husband dislikes the taste and how it makes our house smell. Worth a try if you love risotto.

The label says ready risotto ( in big letters), but its not, you have to cook it 12 minutes so how is it ready???(side of box) Label on the front of the box says 12 min x2 JUST ADD WATER!!!! Uncle bens has ready rice (precooked) and all you do is heat it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Please change the labeling and description as it is not "READY"!!! I am disabled and in a wheelchair and only have a microwave, so this product is worthless for me and now I am out over $20 because I believed what it said on the package.RTD

Being kind of risotto snobs, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rice in this quick mix. Prepared per package directions, the rice is appropriately al dente. I usually add a little extra pre-soaked porcini and drizzle with a bit of truffle oil, yum! The four cheese and saffron varieties are nice, too.
