Nice but hot to the touch!
This is a nice and great performing 2-slice toaster. It browns toast very evenly. It has a nice little beep when toasting is done. Thermostat seems accurate. I would suggest starting out on 2. It goes up to 7. The biggest thing I don’t like is that the sides get VERY hot after using. It would definitely burn a child! The second thing is be sure and remove the sticker over the display. Mine showed 4. I didn’t know it was a sticker and kept trying to change it but it still showed 4. I thought it was defective but it’s not. After peeling off the sticker I could see that it was indeed working properly.

Easy to see and adjust. Makes perfect toast.
I have grown weary of toasters that have near invisible settings on the knobs. Not that it mattered much, the dang things refused to do the same thing twice unless it was the wrong thing.I wasn't impressed by the weight of this toaster when unboxing it. It seemed too light to be very sturdy. Not what I expect from Cuisinart. Other than that we love this toaster. The LCD screen is bright and easy to adjust. A #4 setting delivers absolute perfect toast every time for me toasted evenly on both sides. It also performs well with my wifes gluten free breads which are sometimes refrigerated. Popup is MEH. We will see how the springs hold up over time.We have not used the push button functions. The only one that we may ever use is the bagel setting so I cannot testify on their functionality. The cord length is adequate. The crumb tray removes from the back which is not optimal. The main takeaway is I never thought I would actually say, "Wow! This is really good toast!"

Dependable Toaster
I researched 4-slice toasters in many sources. I kept coming back to this Cuisinart CPT 435 model. I read the reviews from 1 star to 5 star, starting with the 1 star reviews first. I discounted any review that was older than 1 or 2 years because the product has probably changed so those reviews are not comparing apples to apples. I also read the comments about this toaster. Finally, I decided that a lot of the reviews and comments were specific to individuals who had buyer's remorse. I have had the toaster a few days and used it about 7 times already. Toast, English Muffins, reheat homemade frozen waffles. Everything was fine, just had to learn the correct settings, so I started out on a low setting and worked my way up. The toaster does what the manufacturer says it does. It is warm to the touch around the sides and front, which is to be expected, but I can hold my hands on the stainless steel while it is toasting. The top is hot and that is because the heat escapes from the toaster at the top! Duh. I have always moved any toaster I used out from under upper cabinets. That just makes sense. The toaster does have a sound feature that lets you know when the toasting is finished. It is just like my microwave sound and not unpleasant at all. In fact, I don't have to keep checking on the toaster to see if the cycle is done. It lets me know. The cord can come out the side or the back. There are prongs under the toaster that allow you to wrap the cord and direct it out the back. Nice. So far the toasting is even from all four slots. And my Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse Hearty White bread which is long than normal bread just fits in the slot which must be about 5-1/2". The slot width is generous. The push up feature is nice so you don't have to dig inside for the toast or muffin. Even the English Muffin came up high enough with the push up feature so that I could grab it without touching the top of the toaster. I don't expect this toaster to last forever, but if I get 7 to 10 years out of it, that is fine by me. I would have given it a 5-star but I do not love any kitchen large or small appliance. So, if you want to spend a little bit above average, and want a 4-slot toaster, give this one a try. And no, I was not paid to give the review.

If Goldilocks had this toaster - she would say "It's just right!!" Finally a perfect toaster.
All I ask of a toaster is this: lower my bread into the slot, heat it until it's the golden color I chose, then send it back up. Don't make me pop it up and down multiple times to see if it's burning, or not cooking, don't make me flip it around to toast the other side. And could you please do the same thing the next day? This toaster actually does its job. It's FABULOUS.2 people in the house. Both like a different shade of toast. We don't use big or fat bread - just basic, artisan sized grain bread. This toaster has some perfect features to accommodate for most anything - my favorites: 1. Memory feature: his and hers for us. 2. Quick View button: is my toast burning or not cooking? One touch of the button for a peek without resetting the timer. 3. +30 second button: okay, wish my toast was a tiny bit browner, but I don't want to burn it - this is your go-to feature. On top of that, mechanical lower and raising of the bread - quiet and zen-like - not a fan of slamming the levers. And did I say it actually toasts my bread on both sides!!! Thank you.(My toast is more golden that it looks in the photo's - it's a tan/brown color bread).Let me also say this: it's a crapshoot whether the heating coil cards on any toaster come out of the factory working like they should. They all use the same parts made at the same place using the same lower quality components than what we had in our life before. If you can find a toaster that does its job, looks like you want and fits your budget - it's a good thing. No, it's doesn't make the buzzing sound some mentioned in reviews. If you use super thick, super long bread, this isn't for you - find a toaster that's made for that. (Don't try jamming oversized bread in - yes, you will ruin the mechanical raise/lower feature). The cord length is just right. If you're toasting 1 slice - use the 1 Slice button - it's made to adjust the heat for just one slice (doesn't matter which side). It actually comes with a paper instruction guide - read it.This was our third and final attempt at finding a replacement toaster. For us it's perfect. PS - all of my family and friends that have a Duolit happen to have them all on the blink right now :-) Even the "premier" of toasters fail.
