Ryder is not a good man. He is a biker who has seen ...
This one had me from the first page. Ryder is not a good man. He is a biker who has seen his fair share of trouble. We meet Ryder just as he dies which is where he sees what the deeds of his life have earned him. He is given the choice to move on to somewhere worse or become a reaper. He chooses the latter.Things seem to be going as well as expected in this new position, that is until he is called to reap a young boy named Thomas and meets his mother Elizabeth. I loved so many things about this book. With a different take on the grim reaper this story kept you wondering where it would lead you. All the characters had an air of rebelliousness about them so you never really knew what they would do from one moment to the next.Don't get me wrong, some did what i predicted but it's the not knowing that I really liked. It was a well written story with enough to keep you hanging on for more. There is a cliffhanger of sorts but the main story is wrapped up enough that you could leave it there. That said, it leaves you wanting to know more. My only problem was the description of Ryder wasn't clear enough for me and I found it hard to conjure him up in my mind. When I got this one I didn't think I would like it at all as bikers aren't my thing, however I thoroughly enjoyed this story.I would read it again and recommend it.

Fun Book with Great Narration
This is such a fun concept, and the book is quite well-written. The story right off the bat reminded me of one of my favorites shows that got canceled - Dead Like Me. Similar to that series, the main character dies right at the beginning and gets the opportunity to "come back," so to speak, as a reaper. If that concept doesn't suck you in immediately, the writing and story will. Then it gets better. There are a few minor flaws in the story, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. One of the best parts of this book was the narration. The narrator does an excellent job of giving you the feel of the character. His voices are good, the pronunciations are consistent and correct, and the pacing is on point. I haven't listened to anything from this guy before, but I plan to in the future!I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left my honest review. The free copy did not influence my review in any way.

A good idea, but poor presentation
Ryder was a biker, addicted to action, alcohol, and not very concerned with others. When he died in a horrific motorcycle accident, he was given a choice; go on to his next life which would probably be worse than what he left, or become a Reaper. He somewhat reluctantly decides that being a Reaper would be the better choice; a decision that is validated when he meets Elizabeth, a single mother whose son, Thomas, has a terminal illness. When Thomasβ soul is taken by evil forces who want him for his special talents, Ryder, Elizabeth, and a band of disturbed Reapers set out to rescue him. During this dangerous quest, Ryder finds himself changing; for the first time, in life or death, he finds himself putting others before himself. An interesting, actually intriguing, premise, with some fairly well-drafted action sequences, the story was, unfortunately, spoiled for me by the presence of far too many typographical and grammatical errors. Another round of proofreading and line editing would make this a really good book. The author has a great idea, but needs to work on more effective presentation.

Reaper's Deliverance
I enjoy all sorts of genres, and it's always fun to come across an author I haven't read before. In Reaper's Deliverance, Ms. Stork has an interesting take on the afterlife. What I enjoyed about the book was that the main character went form a guy with personal issues, being in a gang and not being a kind human being, to caring about a woman and her child ... and being willing to put everything on the line in order to help them. I also enjoyed the British-isms and UK spellings. What I did not care for were the swearing (I don't mind some here and there, when there seems to be a purpose behind it, but in this case, it seemed a little heavy) and some of the wording/phrasing of the sentences. I like to feel drawn to the characters of a book and feel like I'm championing them along the way, whether they make mistakes or not. I didn't really fall in love with the characters in this book, but I did find many of them interesting.

excellent book! i like the different take on "heaven ...
excellent book! i like the different take on "heaven and hell" and reapers and what happens to souls when the body dies. there were a few grammatical snags (not language differences.. couple of those, but not a big deal, and definitely not a hindrance to the story), and because the rest of the book is so well-written, they stood out. but all in all, a good and interesting and fun read. i like that story one ends, but it leaves a tie-in for the next book for whenever i want to pick it up.. i'm not forced into it, like some authors seem to have the tendency to do. i enjoyed this book quite a bit, and think you will too.

Reapers
Ryder dies in a horrific motorbike accident and now has to make a choice. He can go to his new life which is even worse than his old life or he can become a Reaper. Elizabeth is a single mother and her son is the only thing she lives for.. her son Thomas, is terminally ill. Thomas is threatened by an evil that would misuse his special gift so Ryder and Elizabeth has to work together to protect her son. Kind of changed your thoughts on what a reaper is. and who wouldn't like a tall hunk wearing biker boots and jeans..

Pretty Darn Good
I genuinely enjoyed this book. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because although it was interesting, it was not what I call "a real page turner". I'm a voracious reader, and there are some stories that I cant stop reading at any cost. This was not one of them. I did enjoy the characters, and Ryder was interesting and funny. I also enjoyed the humor. And I really liked that there is a lesson to be learned from this story. All in all, very enjoyable.

A modern fable disguised as a paranormal romance? ... (too deep, sorry) ;-)
Read from July 15 to 22, 2015Kindle EditionWhat a jam-packed roller-coaster of a story!!! It had thrills, tension, horror, humour and of course, romance.I wasn't enamoured with our main character to begin with but I'm glad I kept reading. Ryder's journey; both physically and emotionally was well worth it!I found the writing style easy to read and the story easy to follow. The world building, plot and character development was well paced and believable and I found myself hooked throughout. This book is the first of Miranda Stork's The Grim Alliance series (currently a 7 book series) but I think this book could be read as a stand alone. Without giving any spoilers, there is a Happy Ever After ending (which I love my books to have) but there is a huge cliffhanger for another character at the end of this one and a continuing background story arc that is far from resolved which tempts us to read book 2 "Promises of the Dead"... ;-)

A good read!
βI thoroughly enjoyed this and would certainly read the next in the series. It's edgy and fast-paced and full of danger. There is a lot to pick up from this book. The main thing, which I think is HUGE, is the underlying theme that you can always turn your life around! Ryder, the main character, is a loser - let's be honest. He gets himself killed and is then given a choice... I won't spoil it by telling you what his choices were, but he chooses the better one... which leads him to a whole new 'after life' ;-) A quest, a rescue, a lot of beating things up and shooting at nasties too! Who couldn't like that? ;-) And.... good versus evil, a happy ending with a hook, and a promise for more!

GRIPPING
What a great book. Everything that you could want, good against evil, demonic creatures, family and romance all in one book. Ryder is a real bad boy, given a choice with nothing to lose, becomes a soul collector. 100 years to serve before his redemption. He goes against the rules and with his fellow members embarks on a journey to the dark side to save a soul. I would really recommend this book. Can't wait to start the next in the series. X

Reaper's Deliverance
I don't normally read this sort of book, but that's because I loveS-Fi and Fantasy. Although this falls into this Fantasy category, I thought I'd give it a try,and I found it was well worth reading. A young guy who is a thug in all but name, dies and the story is about his redemption in his and people's eyes. A good story well written and you can't help but feel for the characters. Well worth giving a try.
