Great Guide and Cookbook for Bariatric Patients
I was so happy to get this cookbook and guide prior to my surgery. The guide has some good information and the receipes are broken down into the different phases of the post-op diet. The photos are beautiful and the recipes all look easy to make and delicious. I'm anxious to start making many of the recipes in this book.

Delicious recipes, healthy eating!!
When I saw that Dr. Weiner had a cookbook out I snapped it up as soon as it was available! There are not many out there that give such exceptional information for Bariatric patients. I like how he breaks the recipes down for your stages of eating post-op. It gives me hope that I can eat delicious and nutritious food post surgery! The recipes are amazing, beautiful photographed and the cookbook has valuable information in it for Bariatric patients!! It’s a winner!!

Great information!
This doctor is definitely an expert in his craft and what I love the most about him is that he practices what he preaches, that's very relatable,if he can do it so can I!

Awesome information
Dr. Weiner is one of the greatest Bariatric Surgeons in my limited opinion. He goes beyond just minimal information about the different surgeries and looks into the future, 6 months to be exact to introduce an different thought on eating on both Intuitive Eating and concentrating on eating more vegetables first with protein taking second place. I love this book with great recipes. His book, A Pound of Cure, breaks everything down into 12 sections.

May conflict with your doctor’s protocol
I have watched this doctor’s YouTube videos and have taken many notes on each stage. He has many stages, which I like. But this book and advice may conflict with your doctor’s own protocol.-My doctor had me on a clear liquids diet for 2 days prior to surgery, and for a week post op.-this doctor tells you, you can have protein shakes as soon as you get home.My doctor warned me of leaks, and upset stomachs, and warned that I could put myself back in the hospital if I started “full liquids” too early. He is not a world renowned bariatric surgeon like this one ^ so maybe he’s seen this in his patients before. For that, I’m heeding his warning. Also, the next stage allows dairy & then soups.I can understand why high protein dairy products would come before soups.. but my doctor’s protocol is 9 days clear liquids (including those 2 days pre op) 2 weeks clear liquids and full liquids (protein shakes and blended/strained soups) then after those 2 weeks I can start puréed foods like yogurt and dairy. Dairy promotes certain digestive issues that’s why they don’t recommend too luck right out of surgery and he was happy to hear I’ll be having plant based protein- even though animal protein absorbs better..This is in NO way, saying my doctor’s protocol is better or superior than this doctors. Quite the opposite. But, because my surgery was not done by this talented surgeon, I think I’ll play it safe and heed my surgeon’s warnings and use his protocol.I am excited to try the recipes in this book after the initial “phases” are complete.

Thank you so much Dr Weiner
Love Dr Weiners explanations, his plan helped me so much after bariatric surgery. I’m keeping my healthy goal wait now this 6 years. His eating plans are my daily routine. Thank you so much from Switzerland.

Delicious recipes
Exceptionally tasty recipes with detailed macros listed. I deducted one star only because of the index: for example, Brazilian Fish Stew (really good) is listed under "B", instead of "fish", making it hard to find recipes again. Not a big deal just a little annoying. Lots of post-bariatric recipes for the various stages of recovery. I'm not a bariatric-surgery patient but am following their diet plan and have lost 55 pounds.

Doesn’t follow “normal” post op eating plans
First off the author is clearly an expert. BUT he has created his own “recovery” plan for after surgery that is very different than the “normal”.Typically the recovery is liquid, purée, soft, general. This books plan is liquid, soft dairy and blended, cooked vegetables and blended soups, beans eggs and hearty soups, fish and nuts, chicken.Although these may sound similar the recipes do not translate well. For other books I’ve bought it also provides specifics for each stage for each recipe.Even just selecting recipes I haven’t flagged nearly as many! The six pages at the beginning are informative about recovery.
