As is usual with me is that Lanza could do no wrong. His singing is beyond words. He knows every minute when he is to join the music. He could not read notes but it is apparent he had the voice & obviously a good ear for the tune & pitch. It is not clear if he really wanted to sing just opera because let us face it he certainly would not have been heard by as many admirers as he was used to singing to & anywhere! He was born with that voice & as soon as he knew it he perfected it & no one knows how many teachers he had. All the presentations in this CD are perfect & again without description. He knew how to handle every note and/or words so sometimes you hear something different but always awe inspiring. One must wonder why God gave him this outstanding voice & ability & then took him so soon. I listen with admiration & wish he could have finally appeared on the opera stage. This was suppose to happen the beginning of the season in 1960. Amazon has so many of his great songs & I am always enticed to buy still more.

Just arrived well packed today and I’m sure it will be perfect. Sorry but I won’t be able to play it until I get a CD player but if any problem I will update. Otherwise please consider it an excellent and beautiful CD

This CD has a rendition of the Neapolitan classic, Torna a Surriento, with Mario Lanza accompanied by only a piano, so you can get the full experience of his voice. It made me cry, it was so incredibly beautiful. No one can sing with the richness and passion of Mario Lanza.This is one of 3 CD's by Sepia records which have the original mahogany sound of the original recordings.Mario Lanza had an extended range (low A to high D) with a luscious baritonal coloring, which you can hear in these recordings. In terms of natural vocal endowment, Lanza possessed more voice than any other singer.

Many of these songs I wasn't familiar with so had to learn to "like" them. Mario's voice is as great as ever. I don't listen to this one as often as the others but when I just want to hear Mario's voice, like alone in my house or car, I play this CD.

Having these songs together on one cd ...well, you cannot tire of hearing them sung by the world's greatest tenor. He put himself into each recording and gave his soul to them.

The greatest tenor voice of the twentieth century shines in this collection of songs and arias that were just remastered and have never sounded better. You will love it too!

Had all of these on well worn out LP's. Great for the update to CD. Price is great!, too.

Mario had a sublime voice with enormous power, yet with absolute clarity.

I have given this 5 stars because of it's presentation.The booklet is excellent. I already own the RCA CD Mario- Lanza at his best which also incorporated The Vagabond King- Highlights. This was the fly in the ointment and took considerably from the overall merit of the CD. Lanza was in poor voice in this latter section. The voice was dull and much too heavy-sounding for this type of music and some of the top notes were strained.So I was delighted to see this CD become available. Again I own the double LP of Caruso in opera and Lanza sings Caruso favourites.But the sound on the Lanza LP was deplorable. To go back to the Mario- Lanza at his best, I still enjoy the Neapolitan songs, and ignore the rest.My Italian Soul is very good, but the Sound Engineers seem to have amplified slightly, necessitating reduction of the volume. They have done their best with the tracks from Caruso Favourites, but the damage was done originally. It was once suggested that they did this to make it sound like the conditions under which Caruso recorded. If that is true, I am amazed that Lanza did not veto the publishing of it.Anyway this presentation is a fine effort by the people concerned. I have never heard a more beautifully produced or sustained A natural at the climax to Passione ( My Desert Island Track).How beautiful Pour un Baiser would have been had it been recorded with more care. Again, " Well done to everybody concerned.

A superb voice some of the recordings were not of not of a high Quality sound but enjoyable never the less
