The Hotel Café presents... Winter Songs

Worth buying to enjoy the holidays with.

This is one of my all-time favorite CDs. I'm writing a review for a purchase that I must have made 2+ years ago because, well, here I am on Amazon with too much free time on my hands! Anyhow, the music on this CD is amazing. It's cute, beautiful, catchy, feminine, romantic, sad, and more! The styles and personalities of these songs are diverse, despite the holiday music genre, and female voice-only category. After years of owning this CD I'm still not sick of any of its songs, and I listen to them whatever the season is... My favorites are "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles/Ingrid Michaelson and "All My Bells Are Ringing" by Lenka! The Hotel Cafe has chosen some of the most talented and inspirational female voices (okay, maybe not Katy Perry. But her song on this CD isn't that bad) and created a winning ensemble that I will listen to for a very long time from now!

Sehr schön. Eine wunderschöne Weihnachts-CD mit Singer/Songwriter-Damen der ersten Güteklasse. Die Klassiker, die man oft schon nicht mehr so richtig hören kann, wurden hier geschmackvoll neu interpretiert, allen voran "Sleigh Ride" von KT Tunstall, das macht Spaß. Auch "I ll be home for christmas" von Holly Conlan ist toll.Etwas anstrengend ist das geschrieene, eigentlich wunderschöne "Silver bells" von Alice Smith. Da empfehle ich die Version von Dionne Warwick.Auch nicht wirklich schön ist das hingerotze "White christmas" von Kate Perry.Aber das sollst mit den Tiefpunkten gewesen sein - zwei an der Zahl, gemessen an 15 Songs ist für einen Sampler eine tolle Quote.Somit wären wir bei den absoluten Highlights dieses Albums, den Original-Kompositionen, und hier sieht man, warum sich die Damen zurecht zur ersten Liga der Singer-Songwriter zählen dürfen:- "Winter Song" von Sara Bareilles- "The heartache can wait" von Brandi Carlile- "All my bells are ringing" von Lenka- "Maybe next year" von Meiko- "Mistletoe" von Colbie CaillatDiese fünf Lieder allein rechtfertigen die fünf Sterne für ein rundes, gelungens Album ohne übertriebene Phrasierungen oder aufgekitschten Arrangements. Mehr davon. Tolle Sache.

女性ヴォーカル、ミドル・テンポ中心の選曲が、とても心地よく響いてきます。アコースティックなロック・テイスト、少々ノスタルジックな雰囲気を感じる曲まで。これまであまりなかったタイプのクリスマス・コンピレーション・アルバム。大人の普段着で楽しむクリスマスにふさわしい１枚です。

I absolutely love this CD and will admit to listening to it year round. This is a great collection of songs for those who need something a little different from the usual holiday line up.
