Unique and not too hot
To start off - I’m a wimp when it comes to anything spicy or hot and this was actually the perfect amount of heat for me. I had never seen “hot chocolate” like this with the chunks of chocolate instead of powder. Now I want all my hot chocolate to be like this because the thicker consistency is amazing. It’s super simple to make - hot milk and add some spoonfuls of this until it’s at the consistency you want. Obviously the more milk the thinner the overall consistency will be.You can make quite a few glasses out of just one bag and has gotten me through the winter. The flavor is really unique as well and when your first take a sip it’s just chocolate but when you swallow you can feel the spices going down and it adds a little extra warmth going down. I was surprised it wasn’t too spicy for me as I’m a wimp but I think the hot temperature helped the spices not feel as spicy as they should’ve been.Overall I’m super impressed with this chocolate mix in and I’ll be checking out other flavors by then as well

Bixby Drinking Chocolate | Mayan Style Hot Chocolate Powder with Cinnamon, Chipotle & Sea Salt
Really superb and fun flavor of hot chocolate. If you've ever had a Mexican hot chocolate at your favorite restaurant, you know these are spicy and bold chocolatey drinks that often have chocolate as a collaborative flavor more than a standout one. This mix follows that philosophy in theory but could have a stronger punch of chili and cinnamon for sure. The chili flavor is on the mild side and appears at the end, and the cinnamon is a little lacking. To remedy this, instead of making it with straight milk, what I ended up doing was making a spiced tea that I had on hand and steeping this in the tea, then adding half cream/half milk that had been heated to it and letting it rest in the mug, covered and wrapped in a towel about 15 minutes. The temperature was great when I got to drinking it, and by that time all of the flavors had really developed and expanded. The tea defintely helped add some much-needed flavor, too.Overall this stuff is great if you dress it up a little, I just wish the flavor had a bit more punch on its own. The good thing is that the actual chocolate is very creamy and delicious if prepared right, so the extra little work to create perfect flavor doesn't bother me so much. I'd recommend this for sure to anyone who didn't mind tinkering with it a little to get it just right!

Disappointing
Something went very wrong here, and it's a real shame. I've tried, and loved, Bixby's Drinking Chocolate Buttons, but I always found the wait for them to dissolve rather tedious. (Patience is not one of my virtues, I'm sorry to say.) So I hoped that this product, which I assumed would be chocolate shavings as depicted on the package, would be quicker to dissolve in my hot half-and-half.Alas, somewhere along the way, the shavings melted and reformed into crumbly lumps with a bad case of bloom. So I cannot tell you if they dissolve more rapidly. What I CAN tell you is that, despite the off-putting appearance, THIS STUFF TASTES FANTASTIC. It's smooth, rich and full-bodied, with the merest hint of cinnamon and a floral chocolatey-ness that is utterly divine. It's luxurious and decadent and all the things that make for a spectacular cup of hot chocolate. So I will definitely be giving it another try ... but maybe only in the dead of winter when the temps are certain to stay well below the melting point.

Very smooth, creamy and spicy, 6 oz. of milk or dairy alternative makes best cup (in my opinion)
I found 6 ounces of milk to be perfect, 8 ounces was just too weak. I made it in the microwave by heating the milk a bit first, then adding the cocoa mix and stirring, then heating the mixture in 20 second intervals and stirring again until smooth and creamy. I didn't really taste the cinnamon or sea salt but you can definitely taste the Chipotle, which will settle to the bottom of your cup, so might want to give the cocoa a stir between sips. I really like the flavor, tastes almost like the Mexican hot chocolate served at my favorite restaurant. I might try adding more cinnamon next time though. Also, this isn't a powder, it's more like bits of chocolate covered in powdered cocoa and other ingredients like cinnamon, salt and peppers. This makes for a very creamy but not too sweet cup. Of course you can add additional sweetener if desired. Think I might try the other flavors once this is gone. They have a milk chocolate and dark chocolate combo that would probably be a big hit during the Holidays.

I like the company's hot chipotle better; this is best with milk or substitute.
**Tear at a downward angle! Otherwise you'll probably need to use scissors to open this super glued . . . ahem, resealable packaging.I also got the company's hot chipotle drinking chocolate, and that delivered the right amount of heat, very good with just hot water. This is good, but the cinnamon was faint until I added some oatmilk. Suddenly the chocolate and cinnamon were very present. Unlike the chiptole, this has nutritional facts listed, and the sugars aren't that bad for what it is. Both look more like chocolate chips than the typical powdered hot chocolate. Dissolves well, and what doesn't dissolve is delicious melty chocolate at the bottom of your cup. But if you really want a craft-like hot chocolate, go with the company's chipotle version.
