Smooth as silk..fragrant and rich..no acid taste

It's my first time trying anything from this brand. I am not a coffee snob but I love a good dark roast & this is described as having the chocolate notes I prefer.The short take: It's good & some might really like it but I won't order more.I always make a coffee first as the label suggests, then adjust things as needed. When I made this as suggested with 1 level TBLS (5g) for each 6-ounce (178ml) cup of coffee, the result smelled great but tasted too weak. I like my coffee very rich so I went with my usual 24 grams of coffee to about almost 400 ml of water and that was much better but I could have done with a little bit more water. It's not bitter but the chocolate still doesn't come through any deeper. I'm using a Ninja machine with "Classic" and "Rich" brewing options. I used the rich brew for this one.PROS:- The "best by" date is 4 months out from when I bought this. That isn't bad.-The aroma when I opened the bag was wonderful. I could definitely smell dark chocolate wafting out & it reminded me of those chocolate wafers used in baking.- This does have a Subscribe & Save option.- This does not come out bitter, even when brewed very strong.CONS:- The price is a little bit up there for me at almost $1.25/ounce unless it's on sale. I can breeze through a 12-ounce bag the way I drink coffee in a couple of weeks.- The Subscribe & Save option doesn't take the price down much. It brings the regular $14.99 price down to just $14.24 ($1.18/oz) and the discounted price of $11.99 down to $11.39 ($0.95/oz). So, still kind of up there but worth it if you like the coffee.- Unless you have a good canister, you might not like the bag. I was not able to open it without cutting it (it's factory-sealed very tightly). It has that regular folding-tab closure & those things don't even keep out enough air. I do have a canister but if I didn't, I would have to vacuum-seal this to keep it fresh. At this price, I definitely don't want it to go stale!Back when I could find it, I drank Yuban dark roast. This is probably the 4th coffee I've tried in looking for one I can afford to be my regular thing since the Gevalia Dark Gold Roast Bold Dark Roast (approx $1.00/oz) is getting hard to find in stock. So far, I have tried Jim's Sweet Love ($1.12/oz), Lavazza Gran Selezione ($0.53/oz), Dark Guatemalan Huehuetenango ($0.84/oz but it only comes in 2lb bags), Tim Hortons Dark Roast ($0.63/oz). I love Jim's coffee but not the price for the size. I'm leaning toward the Lavazza at this point.

We discovered Charleston Roasters from a local store. When it got more difficult to find the blend we enjoyed the most, Kiawah Island, we looked for other options. Thankfully we now can get a steady supply. The coffee is smooth and well balanced. Thanks Charleston Roasters!!!

Love this coffee!

Dark roast, without being overwhelming or bitter in my opinion. Nice chocolate overtones. Definitely a favorite organic coffee.
