Good product
I have been using BABY Hing Crystals for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. The product is definitely pure and organic, and it has a strong, pungent smell that is characteristic of asafoetida. I have used it in a variety of dishes, including curries, dals, and stir-fries, and it has always added a delicious flavor and aroma. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a high-quality asafoetida.Pros:* Pure and organic* Strong, pungent smell* Adds a unique flavor and aroma to Indian cuisine* AffordableCons: : Some people may find the smell too strong

Quality product
This is a very high quality product and you need a tiny bit product to get that flavour. The general brand products available are nothing but 90% maida. Buy this product and get to know the real hing. Too satisfied with the quality, flavour and the smell. It comes in a paper bottle. You have to shift it to a aur tight bottle.

Awesome and Authentic
I love to cook and to create some magic in the kitchen, one needs best of the ingredients.I came across Baby Hing and purchased it. I do understand it is the concentrated variant and thus expensive. However, after using it I can surely say, it’s worth its price.I took a small granule and dissolved it in some hot water. You can see how perfect white cloudy result is. No impurities, no wheat, just how it should be.You don’t need too much of this product per dish. Just a small granule is enough or you can crush all of it into a powder and use a small pinch.I prepared Toor Dal using it and it came up excellent. Family enjoyed the taste.Just go for it.

Not pure as advertised on the package
Bought it as it stared on the package it’s 100% pure. Turned out it is not - it’s for few other ingredients added.

for the unfamiliar- less is more, wickedly putrid but lends magical taste when done right
It's been a very long time since I worked with heeng (or hing), so long that it is like using it for the first time all over again. You dont forget your first time. If you are not familiar with this, then you may want to educate yourself first. It is not for the weak or wary. LOL. Read on for my description.. I think I used weaker stuff before because I do not remember it being quite this potent. The teeny weeny pack (maybe 1-1.5 tablespoons?) is robust, and not much is needed. The crystals are big, I think I used flakes before. Just use 1 or 2 crystals (size of coarse salt or so) to start. That is likely more than enough for whatever you are creating.Definitely a spice that needs to be used with a light hand, and as a way to enhance other flavors NOT as means to create a flavor in and of itself. Trust me, you do not want this to be the forward flavor (omg no, lol). Because you know what it tastes like on its own? how I imagine dirty feet, armpits, butt, rotting garlic and onions all mixed together would taste. It's fetid. Nearly putrid. Makes you wonder how something like this was even first discovered as something one wants to eat. BUT done right, it does absolutely magical things when combined with other spices, oils, and foods. Definitely for savory applications.Be mindful of trying it by itself, as that is not the resulting flavor (and it will be a taste that lingers all night, and you will wonder if you are rotting).High quality. Small amount that is actually a lot. Try it dissolved in ghee, add it to lentils (I'm always trying to find new ways to have my beloved lentils.)A MUST HAVE once you get to know it. Just.. be easy on how much you use. Trust me.

Far Too Expensive, Bad Packaging for Re-Use...
The packaging was confusing at first, why a bag inside a vacuum bag inside a tube... Well, it's because of how incredibly volatile the smell is. This stuff smells extremely strong, a very putrid smell that soaks through multiple layers of ziplock bags. The packaging works for delivery, but not for use and re-use. I'm struggling to find an appropriate container for this that will contain the smell. For $15, which is considerably higher per ounce from the competition, I do expect a bit better of a comprehensive product. I do not have any experience with Hing/Asafoetida beyond unknowingly eating it at an Indian restaurant, but this really does not strike me as a good deal. It's neither a bulk solution, nor a starter solution - it's just a tiny disposable bag of the ingredient for a ton of money. I would look to the much more value-oriented competition, or maybe a different product that has a clearly well sealed bottle to store it in to begin with. A regular spice bottle will not be sufficient. This is a spice that I will look to getting more of in the future, it seems to be at least one of the ingredients missing in my curries.I ordered this in March 2022, and the package date was August 2021 - the container states best before 18 months of the manufacturing date, so that leaves me with about 13 months of useful shelf life.

Great Substitute For Garlic & Onions
The INDIAN MASALA FACTORY BABY BRAND Hing Crystals come in a small resealable bag in a larger foil bag and rounded container. No worries about the quantity because you won't need much to take dishes to a whole new level. Also known as "devil's dung" and "asafetida", the aroma is very strong and a bit off-putting at first. I've never cooked with hing before, so it was a new experience.I added a pinch to olive oil in a pan, and it imparted a unique flavor to my vegetables. It also generates quite an earthy aroma in my kitchen. It has a little something I can't quite put my finger on, but it tastes good. It comes from Ferula, an herb from the celery family. It's supposedly a good substitute for those who can't have onion and garlic and it does in fact mimic those flavor profiles. It is also supposed to be good for digestion.I truly enjoy how it makes my food taste and it truly has a "monstrous" yet enjoyable flavor. You just have to be careful to only use a small amount as it's quite potent and can easily ruin a dish. Like I said, I used a pinch and that was enough to provide ample flavor to a skillet of fresh vegetables. It has worked well in simmered meat dishes as well.Made in India~ Kort

Good flavor but pricey
It looks like you are getting more of this because of the size of the container, but there is just a small bag of product inside. The hing is still good but know that it smells crazy strong in it’s raw form. Once you start cooking with it, it’s more like a garlic smell and taste. I only use a tiny bit at a time because it has a strong flavor and is a bit spicy. It is a common flavor in Indian food so it’s great to add to curry. I just think this one is overpriced and at this price it should come with a glass container to keep the smell in. I put it in a glass jar so it wouldn’t stink up my cabinet.
