Guide to North American Cabooses (Legendary Locomotives)

This is a very specific book that is excellently written and with absolutely fantastic photos that cover virtually their full history. The photos match the write-up so it is a very easy book to read. They also explain many of the terms that non railroad types, like me, don't understand. The photos are worth the price of the book. I highly recommend this book.

I recall my dad who started as a railroad trainman, brakeman, on the railroad in the late 1930's retiring as a conductor with over 40 years service, telling me about conductors having their assigned cabooses and this is part of the story in this book. Additionally the book covers caboose history until they no longer are used at the end of today's trains.

The book is full of photos and gives a history of cabooses that are not needed in modern times.

My Great Grandson is a big fan of trains. He has a couple of books on trains through the years. The book on Cabooses will give him some new info.

I went in a caboose at Perris, CA museum.It had 2 pot belly stoves to boil water and cook food The upper level was like a sofa and big picture window facing forward. Where brakeman could see how the trains was negotiating mountain curves.They were discontinued because train men worked shorter shifts?

A great book on cabooses with a wide variety of photographs and written material; sadly however there's no drawings.

Ein umfangreiches Buch mit vielen erklärenden Bildern. Der Text ist mit einfacher englischer Sprache leicht verständlich und informativer als im vergriffenen Buch von Brian Salomon zum gleichen Thema. Ein schönes Buch-Format mit flexiblem Einband.

Un libro excelente, detallando la historia de los cabooses, sus variantes, e ilustrado con numerosas fotografías tanto en color como en blanco y negro. Imprescindible si te gusta el modelismo ferroviario del material rodante norteamericano.
