Assenmacher Specialty Tools ASSENMACHER T10252 VW-Audi Camshaft Locking Tool

I got the Assenmacher T10252 after learning the hard way why a quality tool is needed for this job. I initially purchased a CTA 2878 cam lock tool which failed instantly due to poor design (read my CTA2878 review with pictures here on amazon to learn why it is junk).This Assenmacher tool is designed differently, the full diameter of the peg is tightly pressed all the way through the backing plate and the tool securely prevents your cams from rotating while removing the cam tensioner bolt.Don't risk lost time with cheap tools that will fail and leave you stranded with your engine opened up; just buy a quality tool the first time and get your job done (as I learned the hard way).

After returning the value-brand locking tool, i ordered this one. Perfect design with the locking cylinders bored through the flat metal on the tool. No flimsy bolts here. I used this to lock the camshafts in order to undo the camshaft timimg chain adjuster bolt (m10 polydrive). Went without a glitch. This tool was so solid that it inspired confidence that the bolt would loosen before the tool gave (...not the case with the cheapo brand). Expensive. But there's no real decision that needs to be made.

I had originally bought the cheap locking took $40 from ebay. The posts bent on trying to unlock the cam bolt....and cams moved all over the place. This tool is SOLID, better constructions and allowed me to change the back chain/tensioner without any worry of my cams moving at all! Please do yourself a favor.

This is the real deal. Should've used this the first time around as the crap tool i used made my poly bolt strip making me remove the cam girdle and made the job 100X more difficult!Spend the extra $

you have to be doing something wrong to break this. Well worth the money.
