The neatest gadget I own
Or at least its the neatest gadget in my kitchen! This is the coolest thing, and it actually works! In fact as soon as my friends saw it they immediately went to Amazon and ordered their own. I was the envy of the classroom :-) I use this to mix Amazing Grass with Almond Milk, and depending on what mood I'm in I'll either throw in a spoon of peanut butter or nutella for an added kick. And this thing is able to blend it all. You wouldn't think that little plastic u-shaped hook could handle it, but it does. The lid seals well, so you don't have to worry about any spills or splashes. In fact, all though the directions say not to do this, I have blended without the lid on :-) I also like that I don't have to hold the button for it to blend. One push and it does all the work for me, and if anything settles to the bottom, another quick push and everything is blended smoothly again.Batteries seem to last well. I use Duracell, and they've lasted since the day I bought it. I do recommend using quality batteries, the cheap one's won't work as well--I learned this the hard way on a recent trip where I forgot to pack my Duracells.Clean up--now this is the tricky part. Yep its great, awesome, does what it claims...so of course there must be a downside. Cleaning the lid is easy :-) The cup requires some finesse. You cannot submerge the cup in water due to the battery compartment. What I do is immediately rinse the cup when I'm finished with it. This is easily done with access to a sink and hot water. It rinses out easily, and you can blend the hot water to remove any build up. When home I use hot water and soap, blend well and wipe it clean. I let it air dry over night. If I don't plan on using the mixer for a long period of I time I make sure to remove the batteries. Other then the clean up issue, this is still an awesome mixer to use. I use it almost daily. It mixes heavy powdered protein drinks with ease--whether in water or soy/almond milk. Everyone who does buy one reports back happily with their purchase! I love mine, and god forbid if something happens to it I will purchase another!

An essential for protein mixers!
This gadget is a must for those who mix protein and nutrition supplements often. I use mine for workout supplements, coffee, kool aid, etc. It works on everything!. At first i was skeptical about the motor being strong enough to mix my protein regime, since i add a GNC protein mix (RE-Build Mass) and Powder Nutrients. The little two speed motor actually does a good job of mixing my drink, it leaves no clumps what so ever! it's a perfect mix. BUT- you must add your liquid in first, if you put the powder in first, it wont let the spinner turn- i guess not enough force. The motor starts off at a low gear first, then once it gets the fluids moving it kicks in to a higher gear. (this process is automatic, you cant pick the speed). This cup is easy to clean, it has a fairly good spill proof opening. I've dropped it a few times and nothing came out. Better than most water bottles out there. My 2 re-chargable AAA batteries(not included) actually last quite a while, so far about a week, using it twice a day. ( i recommend you buying re-chargable batteries and calling it a day, the device comes with regular batts. Besides not being able to microwave it, i haven't tried the dishwasher, nor do i intend to, it has a good rubberized fitted seal easy to remove but sturdy enough to take an everyday beating with out coming off, but somehow i doubt id stay on for the dishwasher cycle and expose the battery bay. Other than that i recommend it for those who mix often, or just want a cool cup to show off at work, (which WILL impress), and mix your perfect sip every time of coffee, or drink. And yes it does make a vortex.

READ THIS!
I've bought a ton of items from Amazon over the past few years. Making a purchase online for an item you can't touch or hold is difficult. You need to have good information and good reviews. So I'll be honest, I'm a little disappointed with this purchase.Pros:1. Blends my Almond Milk and Plantfusion powder so that there are no clumps2. Looks nice3. Battery compartment is fairly easy to remove and replace batteriesCons:1. Lid does not screw on, it is held by a rubber gasket, if the surface between the gasket and lid is wet when the cap is put on, it falls right off and spills all over your gym bag2. The rim of the cup is stainless steel that is pressed onto the plastic of the cup. The stainless steel is not removable, and is poorly pressed onto the plastic, allowing your mix to get underneath the stainless steel with no way to clean it. After a few uses your cup starts to mold underneath the stainless steel and there is no way to get rid of it. I soaked it in soap and hot water, tried a tiny brush, nothing. It's the main reason why my score is so low. How can you design a container that will potentially hold perishable food ingredients and not make it so that it can be fully cleaned? My cup smells like old Almond Milk and it bothers me that there's nothing i can do about it.3. Batteries. Stock up on them, lots of them. This cup eats batteries up almost once or twice a week. I use the cup once a day (breakfast) and run the cup for maybe 30 seconds to mix all my powder thoroughly. You can tell when the batteries are getting tired because you're chewing your powder mix with each sip. I've been using Duracell Duralock Power Preserve batteries, not the cheap kind at the dollar store.4. The battery compartment. Almost every battery compartment has a spring on one side and a metal plate on the other, it's usually the easiest way to tell which side is positive and which side is negative without even checking for the symbols. Not this cup, it has two springs. The batteries do not feel secure in the cup and on occasion pop out facing downward making the base of the cup (rubber) wobble when you set it on a flat surface.5. Mixing utensil inside of the cup is non removable. The cup has a mixing tool inside that mixes your drink and powder together. The piece is not removable and if your powder sticks to it, you have to rinse it immediately or you're squeezing your hand into a tiny cup to try and scrape it off.All in all, I would not recommend this cup to someone that depends on a mixed drink every morning or every time they work out. The cup is high maintenance and poor design. I would imagine a cup with a built in blender would completely come apart, like a blender that you would plug into an outlet. I don't like to give items poor reviews because reviews are usually based on the preferences of the buyer, but in this case, facts are facts.*UPDATE* In my last response to one of the questions on here, I reported that I no longer was using the cup because of the mold issue. It's been a while and I removed the cup from its storage spot on the cabinet. 2 fresh Duracell batteries later and the device is broken. The motor will no longer activate. I dropped my rating from 2 stars to 1 star. This cup looks cool, but it's a waste of money. Buy a manual shaker cup with a spring in it for $10 or $15 dollars and you'll be much happier with that. Between the batteries, cleanup, maintenance and poor motor, this is a waste.

Does what it is suppose to as long as using water to mix the protein powder. Almond milk is too thick!

Two things....
1. it says 16oz, but the max fill line is at 12oz.2. the 'blender' blade cannot mix what is below it and to the sides. so thick powders still stick to bottom and sides.
