7" Not 12"
Great single, that goes without saying. One of the greatest singles of all time, it has to be said. However, please note despite the title of this being listed as a "12" single" by Amazon, it is in fact a 7" single. Disappointingly, my replacement was also a 7".Confusingly, Amazon also groups reviews together so this review will appear on the bonafide 12" page. Tip: if you want the 12" version then look for MAXI in the product title. I was hoping Amazon would rename the erroneous page header for the 7", but as yet they haven't.Amazon's policy is return and refund, they won't send the correct 12" version as a replacement, despite this being their error. There were a lot of posts on Twitter regarding this over the weekend.**EDIT: Amazon have now thankfully updated their pages.**EDIT2: I have added some interesting photos; original handwritten lyrics by Jerry Dammers, the original press ad from June 1981 and a still from the Ghost Town Video.**EDIT3: I recommend the Two Tone exhibition at the Herbert Gallery in Coventry, running until the end of September 2021. Many rare items on show.

The definitive Specials single is a masterpiece
The definitive Specials 12" has been expertly remastered. The sound quality of all three songs is amazing: clear, crisp, no noise or distortion.Side A: Ghost Town (extended version).Side B: Why? and Friday Night, Saturday Morning. The b-sides are as good as the a-side.This 12" and a few others such as the exoertly mastered Blue Monday or Atmosphere are perfect ways to showcase the power of vinyl on a good turntable.

Surprisingly good
I’ve found the half speed masters from Miles Showell and his team at Abbey Road to be very hit and miss miss, but this is an absolute stonker (stomper?) of a remaster.Extremely dynamic, pretty flat and a quiet pressing. If you’re considering it, then I’d say go for it if you can pick it up at a reasonable price.

Just the best 12" ever
Long live 2-Tone. I have nearly every single 7" released on the Two Tone label bar 2 or 3 and I have the original of this but didn't want to miss out of the 40th anniversary edition. 80's Britain just like Britain in 2020/21 a total Ghost Town once again. Thank you The Specials for such a legendary masterpiece.

Excellent package and sound quality.
I bought the 12" and 7" versions. I've only played the 12" up to now, because it sounds so incredible, and the 7" remains sealed. Vinyl is perfect and the sleeve is of very good quality. You know what, i'd really love to see more anniversary releases like this from other bands. The recent Joy Division 12" singles for example.

Disappointed not with record
Bit disappointed not with the record itself but the description of this says it's a 12 inch vinyl what I got was a 7 inch vinyl

great value
as this was only just over a £5 with free postage, it was a bargain. I wouldn't have paid £10+ for it. Sounds great, but not much different from my original 45...
