A satisfactory paper towel holder
PROS: o Clean, simple designCONS: o Instructions are the next closest thing to uselessThe holder is heavy enough that it doesn't feel unstable, however, "heavy" is subjective - I don't consider it to be what I would call heavy, in fact, at 14 ounces (as stated in the product description) it is rather on the light side. It *does* require two hands to tear off a towel, but I knew that when I purchased it... most upright towel holders have this caveat. The "instructions" are more superfluous than helpful. They tell you to use the included screw to fasten the upright rod to the base (duh), then "Place stand upright and, while pulling back the tension arm, slide the paper towel roll onto the chrome stand" (sic). Let's see, what does "pulling back on the tension arm" really mean??? No matter how you lift it, there is no way to slide the paper towel roll onto the rod. You *can* pull outward on each arm where it inserts into the cap, and it is then easily removed such that the paper towel roll can be slid onto the rod. Is that what they are attempting to convey? Or, the top cap can be unscrewed from the rod, which also facilitates the loading of the roll... but is very awkward (as is the subsequent reassembly) with the tension arm flopping about. Perhaps this is what they mean? The illustration in the instructions seems to suggest this, however, the removal of the arm is much faster and more convenient. A minor quibble, perhaps, but instructions should be clear and helpful, not ambiguous and confusing. One star off for the useless instructions and the fact that it is not really "heavy".

When using the holder I have to hold the roll of paper because the weighted "thingy" is pretty useless in keeping the roll from
My first choice was a different holder which was unavailable. This holder has a couple of irritating features. When putting the holder together the upright post has to be screwed into the base. The piece has obviously not be preassembled prior to packing because I had to almost make new threads to get the part together. The part that hangs down has to fit into two holes in the upright post. After a short while the tension in the wire would not keep the prongs in the holes. My solution was to wrap a rubber band around the part to keep the prongs in the hole. When using the holder I have to hold the roll of paper because the weighted "thingy" is pretty useless in keeping the roll from unrolling when a piece is torn off the roll.

It does the job, but....
The weighted arm isn't heavy enough and doesn't provide enough tension against the roll of paper towels to allow a one handed tear. It's mostly decorative really. That said, it looks nice and it's simple to replace the roll. Just take off the arm, slip the roll over th top knob and pole (it fits without unscrewing the knob) , then replace the arm. I'm four star satisfied.

Changing the roll is a pain.
When I bought this I wanted something modern but not too expensive. I feel I got this but biggest regret is that you have to unscrew the top to change the roll. It is a pain when you have company over or a large family. Not as heavy duty as those 20 plus dollar ones, but decent.

I'm satisfied with this product
I'm satisfied with this product. The tension arm could be stronger - as the paper towel roll becomes smaller, it's not held in place so I have to use 2 hands to rip a section off, which isn't a big deal. The holder is sturdy on the counter though and it doesn't slip and slide.

Beautiful, but I don't like that you have to unscrew to replace roll

but I don't like how I need to remove the brackets to add ...
Works well, but I don't like how I need to remove the brackets to add a new roll of paper towels. Also, the "tension arm" doesn't have much tension. Other than that, it hold paper towels... so I guess it does its job.

Alright. Works.
Not as sturdy as claimed but will do the trick for mobility and looking nice on your counter! Works better with a full roll of paper towels, once you get down to less than half a roll, the weighted arm doesn't do to much good.
