Bought this as a replacement, the last one got banged around too much and was not reliable. I like how easy this is to use and the multi methods are helpful for wiggly kids.

You don't have to worry about the batteries because it automatically shuts off after 10 seconds. There are clear instructions how to use this product including pictures for visual learners. The pictures show the right and wrong way to take readings. This thermometer is so easy to use it would be good for seasoned parents, grandparents, first time parents, caregivers and even teen babysitters.There is even a table in the instruction book that tells you how to interpret the results using the digital display reading, color, what it indicates and what to do.It has a backlit display for easy temperature taking throughout the night so you don't have to fumble with a light and chance waking them up. The forehead temperature measurement is very erratic if not done properly.The ear temperature measurement is however spot on!Great buy if you're looking for an instant temperature monitor for kids.

We just moved to a new house and happened to lose our old school thermometer in the transition so it seemed to be a nice time to upgrade to one of these new fangled thermometers.Accuracy:Ear Mode: Seems to be perfectly accurate based on many measurements taken on multiple family members. Incredibly fast measurement time, talking < 1 second quick, it's amazing.Forehead Mode: This mode is not so useful for adults as there is a noticeable decrease in accuracy and consistency, but if you have children this will definitely be useful as it is very simple and straightforward to perform the measurement. Requires little to no pressure and its a quick swipe across the forehead. In my home test it seemed to measure higher than the ear measurement relatively consistently. I knocked off 1 star for this, but I'm a harsh critic.Packaging: Nice small box, doesn't come in an unnecessarily gigantic box with random packaging. Has a nice velour pouch to keep the thermometer in when not in use.Overall I'd give this a 8.5/10.Hope this helps.
