LodgeCast Iron 5" Skillet

I purchased this as an oops thinking I was ordering the 8” but ultimately it’s become my single most used piece of cookware. Now that the seasoning is done it’s cooking the best eggs I’ve had anywhere, with nonstick and painless cleanup. The size means it does a very small number of jobs but it does those jobs extremely well.

While this does say it is pre-seasoned I found that my eggs were stuck to it until after I'd seasoned it myself a few times. It is quite small so you need to be careful with stove-top burners and always use an insulated holder.Note that 5" is the diameter of the upper edge, not the base. I was expecting something a little larger but it works for one egg, which is why I bought it so no problem.We have other Lodge products and are very happy with their quality. And they aren't made in that country that won't condemn another country for its illegal invasion of a smaller country.

Beware that this pan is tiny. Barely big enough to fry an egg but with little room for a spatula. I only kept it because it's cute and looks good hanging with my larger pans. It was supposed to be a present but I ended up having to get the 8' pan instead. Also the little 5' pan is much more expensive than the 8' I got.

The 5 inches are for outer diameter, inner is 4 inches.Quality and pre-seasoning are great, like with pretty much every other Lodge cast iron products.People leaving bad reviews because it's too small need to read descriptions and get a tape measure to have a better sense of sizes, otherwise it is a very unfair and unhelpful thing to do.I happened to need one this size for a very specific purpose so I am very happy with it since the quality is superb.

What you aren’t told is that the measurement is taken on the outside of the pan. That would be fine if that’s where you were doing your cooking. It’s so small, my egg lifter wouldn’t fit in it to flip the egg over. Not worth the money and useless.
