Anyone who takes ALA will notice it changes the smell of your urine. I bought Thorne because it's a trusted name and my other brand was out of stock. Having taken the other brand for years I'm expecting to have that smell. Thorne did cause the smell some days, others not. I'm not sure if the smell is good, bad or unimportant, I do know I had good results with the other brand. I'm not going to finish the Thorne bottle and won't be buying more.
