One of my best ever reads
This book is incredible...took a little getting into until all the characters came together in the plot but oh my it was so well written.I'm sure we are all in total awe of the work achieved at Bletchley Park during ww2, but this novel makes it so personal. I so wanted to finish it, but knew there would be a massive hole left as the last page turned. Nothing short of BRILLIANT LITERATURE....thanku xx

Unputtdownable
A marvellous read. I knew something of BP but what these men and women did and endured was nothing short of other worldly. I could not put it down and almost had a heart attach near the end. A tremendous book. What a writer.

Stunning Wartime Thriller that sets the standard of Historical Fiction
As my followers know I'm really into my World War 2 novels this year, and when I saw The Rose Code, I just knew I had to buy it.Now it is a HUGE book 600+ pages, but don't let that put you off and it, it is an immense and thrilling read.Kate Quinn has obviously done a lot of research in writing The Rose Code, because the depictions of Blethcly Park and its team of cryptoanalysts and the women who worked there are totally realistic and the pages came alive in my mind whilst reading, rather like a movie.I loved the three main characters of Osla, Mab and Berth and the story and plot that involves all three, is immersive. But the thing that stood out was the realism of the settings, from Bletchley Park to London to Coventry, it really is a marvellous read. And I must be going a bit soft in my old age because I adored the love story that flows with each character - and the addition of Prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth's to-be husband was frankly amazing! I have to also admit at one stage to crying over characters and events that happened! The Rose Code is a tremendous novel about courage, love, betrayal and of what it was like to live and work during WW2 as a woman. The plot and storyline are impeccable as is the cast of characters, this was a real page-turner and I couldn't get enough of The Rose Code. I was gripped right up to the last page.If you like novels set during World War 2 then I urge you to read The Rose Code, it really sets the standard of this period and I rate it a well worthy 5 Stars.

Beauty and Brains to defeat Germany
Kate Quinn has delivered a 'tour de force' with this novel. The detail, research, and invention are all impressive and success is assured here. The subject concerns World War 2 when German submarines were destroying thousands of tons of shipping and so threatening to bring Britain to its knees, the only nation in the war standing between civilisation and Nazi domination. To combat this horrific threat Bletchley Park, a large house in copious grounds, was set up in Buckinghamshire to assemble brilliant men and women, many from the ivory towers of Oxford and Cambridge, mathematicians, scientists and others who developed a flair for breaking German codes. Osla, Mabel and Bethan were three young ladies of very different backgrounds. Osla a Canadian debutante with upper class connections and, through the war, a girl friend of Prince Philipp of Greece when he was ashore, and god daughter of Earl Mountbatten. Mabel, or Mab as she styled herself, was from a poor London East End background who dropped into this life by chance, but with aspiration. Bethan, now Beth, was even more extraordinary. Her mother, a religious zealot, treated her so badly and thought her stupid but it happened that instinctively she could solve crosswords quicker than anyone and was recruited and put to work in the most important code breaking hut. The author has brilliantly used a great many facts and woven them in with her own imagination to produce a riveting story of tension, authoritarian excess and ultimately a spy novel. The traitor at Bletchley is not uncovered till late in the book and not before remarkable happenings with regard to romance and Beth being locked away in a mental institution to prevent her revealing the traitor. A wonderful novel, eminently readable, which will keep you on your toes for the considerable duration.

The Rose Code
I'm only half way through but am enjoying it so far. I'm learning more about Bletchley Park and various other snippets of information on WW2. Characters are very believable too and the twist with Prince Phillip intriguing as to where it is going!

Phenominal!
I stumbled upon this author quite by accident and was astonished to realize that I had discovered a treasure. You may find the synopsis elsewhere, what I want you to know is that Kate Quinn is a gifted raconteur. The characters are complex and multi-layered, as is the plot and the narrative. Riveting, and at times harrowing, this is the best book I have read in decades. This is outside of my usual genre, but has opened a whole new world for me. I will use her other books as rewards for good behavior. If I lose 10 pounds or save someone's life, I may read another one.
