I think this might be my favorite game this generation
I think this might be my favorite game this generation, which is a big surprise considering how many great games there are. I have played the previous games by Quantic Dream, Heavy Rain. While the critic reviews for that game is better than Beyond, I love this game so much more. I think the reason Heavy Rain was received better is because the subject matter is more mainstream. In Beyond, there is a heavy scifi, supernatural element that's not everyone's cup of tea. The other thing about Beyond is that they are many parts of the game where you actually have gameplay similar to the third person shooter/action game. This is in contrast to heavy rain which is just an interactive experience. This game is not for everyone, but I loved the character Jodie (and Ellen Page), the gameplay parts, and the story. It all came together and created something more. Amazing!!!

Could have been good, but...
I am glad I decided to get this game from Amazon rather than anywhere else, but I wasn't very impressed by it. It's supposed to be unique because of the fact it plays out more like an interactive film. I found half of it to be decent, but after you pass the halfway mark it just becomes painful to sit through. Not much game play at all, not very smart characters, even a bit of ripping off the Alien series and a couple others which is just completely out of context.. All in all I could only see it as a very bad TV series. I'm glad I gave it a try to see what the fuss was about, but they should have done better considering they pulled all the big names and faces in for this.

... this game after playing Heavy Rain but I was disappointed by its lack of player choice among other things
I was interested in this game after playing Heavy Rain but I was disappointed by its lack of player choice among other things. It seems that all work was put into presentation and graphics instead of proper game design. The supernatural story is scattered at best, showing scenes out of chronological order without good reason. Without the same sense of mystery and player choice as Heavy Rain, I found little reason to become invested. The best part of this game is Ellen Page's performance, but I would recommend picking up one of her movies instead.

It's like a movie
It's like a movie, not a good movie, but not a terrible one, so 3 stars since it was cheap so yeah I don't feel ripped off, I still managed to finish the game and be satisfied by the ending

Not as great as Heavy Rain, but still pretty good
The performances are amazing, as are the graphics. The story on the other hand is pretty good, but it might be a little too fragmented for many.It feels like Quantic Dream wanted to try and fit everything they could into the experience. Avoiding spoilers, at the beginning of the game, you jump from playing with dolls to running from the cops, to going to your first party, to running through an obstacle course as a military agent. All within an hour.I understand that this serves as sort of a streamlined tutorial both in learning the controls and in learning the character, but for a game that heavily boasts about being choice-driven, no matter what I do at the party, I will still run through the obstacle course in my future. That being said, It is still a VERY compelling game....or "interactive movie". It isn't a mystery/thriller like Heavy Rain, but rather only focuses on the singular narrative of Jodie Holmes. If you like Quantic Dream, you'll probably enjoy the game. Don't go in expecting to be blown away and you'll like it just fine. The broken narrative is a little jarring at first and in my opinion is one of the game's shortcomings, but it is still a great experience with a really good ending.
