Good for 1 day
The housing on the cable snapped day 2. I tried to tie a new knot but I'm leery it will happen again. It's also a pain for shorter people to fit this under seat & keep correct seat height.

Ride together, but seperate.
This unit is relatively expensive for what it is, but works as advertised. I have used this to tow a co-rider up-hill as needed using an e-bike as the tow vehicle. The bungee is about 6 feet, and stretches to about 10-12 feet, based on best guess.I am concerned about the safety of this setup in the event the rider being pulled falls, but so far so good.Although possible to disconnect while being towed, if both bikes are moving at the same speed, we found it extremely unsafe to do so and just stopped to unhook. Safety Third.Happy Riding.

Works as advertised so far
I agree the product is on the expensive side for what it is. It seems the housing could easily have been made out of molded plastic instead of carbon fiber, but oh well.I am using this for towing my 7yr old son up steep climbs on his 20" mountain bike. We did 1500' of climbing up a narrow paved road to the descent trail the other day. I have not observed any quality control issues or breaking of the tow line. It has a 1 year Warranty so if anything goes wrong I'll be exercising that.As for the device being illegal in the U.S., I do not know, and, honestly, it wouldn't stop me if it was. I am not using this on city streets or pedestrian trails. I am only using it for steep climbs with virtually no traffic. Just use common sense. My son is a decent bike rider so if the cable snapped I'm sure he would just put the brakes on, not fall back down the hill to town.

Bungee Cut
Upon opening the box, the bungee cord was 80% cut -- right at base of hook. Clearly unusable & unsafe. Possibly a manufacturing defect or a used/returned product by a previous owner. I've contacted Bicyclebungee requesting a replacement/resolution; I'll update this review pending their reply.

Not safe to use this on traffic street
It much cheaper to buy a large dog Leash would do exactly the same.

I would recommend a trail-a-bike instead
This product is illegal in most U.S. states and is potentially hazardous. I would recommend a trail-a-bike instead, which turns a regular bicycle into a tandem.
