What a Surprise!
Honestly, I bought these grill mats fully expecting to be disappointed. I've been grilling for many years and had come to terms with the common pitfalls of grilling and basically knowing that there were just some foods that weren't grill material.I chose fish as my initial trial because I can't tell you how many times a good portion of the fillet did not end up on the plate but in the grill. I placed the mat (it sure it a thin thing, but more on that later). I have a Charbroiler Infrared which is a fairly small grill and one of the mats covered the cooking surface nicely. You'd probably need to use both of them for a larger grill.I fired up the grill and put the mat in place. I let it good and hot and then just put a few drops of oil followed by catfish fillets. You can imagine the sizzling that goes on in a pan frying fish. That's exactly what I got. I ended up with nicely grilled fillets and they all ended up on my plate. This product is advertised as non stick and it gets my seal of approval here as well. In fact, I found myself chasing food on the mat a little to get the spatula under it.When you unpack the mats, they are very thin and I thought this would indicate a cheaply made product, but I think the thinness of the mats is what actually makes them great on the grill. You get the contact you need to get the grilled product. When I finished, I let the grill cool down. threw the mat in a dishpan of soapy water, wiped it off and I was done.I can't speak to the longevity of the product, but, after I grilled with it, I examined it for damage and didn't find any. I expect this to be a useful addition for me and look forward to grilling veggies and other hard to grill things this summer.

Self proclaimed grill master :)
I've been grilling for years, over 35 to more precise. I love grilling and smoking. I have both charcoal and gas grills. I bought these mats to allow me to grill things that I normally would use a skillet for. I did some jalapenos and burgers to start. Burgers tend to be juicier on a flat griddle, but lack the beauty of good hardwood or mesquite charcoal. So I was looking forward to using grill mat to marry the best of both worlds. It didn't work. The mat just collected the fats and then once the puddle found an uneven escape route, the giant flares of flames got out of control. Same with the jalapenos. I put a small amount of olive oil on them and once a flame got hold them, it rapidly covered the mat. A complete fire ball mess.Ok, so this is the solution (iPerfect Kitchen, this is a freebie for you), someone needs to make a mat that has a few "grooves" for the fat to collect and drain to a designated end of the mat. This will at least allow the control of flare ups and isolate them to the grooves instead of spreading like wild fire across the mat. Even better, perforate the mat. If someone makes a decent mat with 1/4" size holes throughout, grill enthusiasts will get the benefit that is originally designed for these mats, without all the mess. 1/4" holes won't allow any food to pass, yet still supply a flat surface to grill oddities, like asparagus. No need to send me royalties, but if you do redesign this mat to be more functional... I wouldn't object to receiving a couple free ones and providing a review. They do need to me twice as thick.

Great purchase for your grill
I really like this mat. With that being said, cleaning, I have both hand washed and dishwasher. I hand washed after use the next morning, wanted it to cool, not so easy, cooked chicken, but definitely not difficult. Then used dish washer but residue was left so hand washed which was easy. Lastly, hand washed about an jour after cooking was the easiest to clean. So, I would say you can use top rack in dishwasher then hand wash or wash after cooking. I would definitely buy and use again should I need a replacement. I don't expect that though because they are very durable.

My grill is so much cleaner!
I wasn't sure if I should get these but I'm glad I did. I really hate cleaning my grill and was grossed out by the build up from grilling. These are non stick and there are grill marks on the food. Clean up is easy. I wash them right after use and it so much better and cleaning grill grates and the grill catch pan. My grill looks so much better because of there. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because some of the burnt on sauce doesn't come off the mat. I think I'll have to replace these after the summer grilling season.

... few times and find it to be a very good product. We use it mainly for cooking fish
We have used the mat a few times and find it to be a very good product. We use it mainly for cooking fish. The fish does not stick and browns nicely. Clean up is a breeze. When it cools, we just put it in the sink with a little warm water and mild soap and wipe it off with a paper towel. This is a great product. I order two of the mats, but had to cut one of them down to fit my grill. In the end, I actually got four mats for my money. I have to admit that when I took it out of the package, I had my doubts. But.............this product is just too good to be true. Thanks.

Back to cleaning the grate!
I purchased the mat for a small Weber gas grill. The mat did most things as advertised. It did a great job keeping the grate clean, you are able to cut the mat to fit your grill and there were no flare ups while grilling. I did find while using the mat, it takes a bit longer to grill as the mat tends to keep alot of the heat underneath the mat itself. On other reviews, grillers have commented about the blackened and charred material on top of the mat after grilling. I experienced this as well and found the material to be burnt blood and fat which would normally drip down to the drip pan. With the drippings remaining on top of the mat, I also experienced the meat sticking to such areas. I gave the mat a rating of two due to the heat issue and the charred blood/fat that caused the meat to stick to the mat itself. I'm back to cleaning the grate!
