Epic Militaria Replica WW2 German Reversible Zeltbahn - Camouflage

I ordered the Oak Leaf pattern and received a splinter pattern design. Not a killer but not what was ordered. The center opening (for the head when worn as a poncho) measures only 11". This will not fit over my head (7 1/2 size hat) to allow it to be worn. The original specifications for the Zeltbahn is for this opening to be 14.17".The very helpful team at Epic Militaria assisted me in confirming the issue and promptly allowed for me to return the item. In fact, the team is notifying the manufacturer to get this issue corrected in the future. Overall construction was fairly rugged and pretty much what you would expect. The seams are tightly sewn, buttons attached securely and grommets reasonably made. The canvas itself will require additional waterproofing, such as camp dry or similar but that's not surprising for any cotton based material.If the center opening had been correct, I would have rated this as a 4-5 star purchase. I wish to commend Chris at Epic Militaria for the responsiveness and effort given in resolving this issue.

On first inspection I was very satisfied. However, after a closer look I started to have a few worries. I'm the type of person that if I purchase something I intend to use it. I liked the looks and heavy material, but, I noticed areas where light was showing through the material. Obviously this can't be good if I were going to use it as its intended. If the fabric isn't woven tightly there is no way it will shed water as it is intended. I suppose if you're a reenactor it would be perfect, (I am not) but if you really want to use it for shelter I'm not confident it will keep you dry.

I've been doing business with Epic for years and they never disappoint. These zelts are very nice quality and the inclusion of two leather straps is valuable bonus!
