Read if you’re considering buying
I have outlined a pros and cons list of MaryRuth’s book, as well as guide to what expect and what NOT to expect. If you want the TL:DR version, here it is, otherwise read all my notes for the details!PROS AND WHAT TO EXPECT (short version)1. Will teach you a balanced way to achieve more energy, better sleep, gradually lose weight (not quickly) and less stress.2. Very powerful for those who have experienced loss, death or any kind of grief3. The steps are free and accessible (you don’t need to spend money)4. Inspiring for those who have Autoimmune and skin issues (like me)5. Will help build a routine and structure in your life that is not demanding or difficult6. MaryRuth offers a live book club on zoom when you buy the book. Just email or message her.7. Inspirational and at times very emotional8. My favorite chapter: Secrets of How to Chew Your Food (eat what you want, just learn how to chew it!!)CONS and what NOT to expect1. This is not a weight loss book (not sure why Amazon classified it as such) but if you’re looking for losing a quick 30lbs, not here2. Lessons are powerful but some chapters could use more examples (maybe the book club goes into it?)3. Would have preferred a Q and A section since the topics she shares makes you have 50 more questions4. Soft cover (personally prefer hard cover)5. MaryRuth knows very advanced health concepts and techniques that she shares on IG but wish she would go more into this advanced concepts in the book (might be saved for a second book)6. Least favorite chapter: Stretching (I hate stretching)*Details*I’ve been following MaryRuth’s (the vitamin brand, not MaryRuth herself) for over 2 years after seeing her products recommended by ER nurse Shannon Tripp (kids multi gummies and husband takes sleep mineral, I use her morning multi). This book was my journey into learning about health education from MaryRuth, which I heard a lot about from her IG page. I have outline my pros and cons if you are considering reading/buying this book.About Me: My background is in sociology and informal nutrition, I have gone through the personal journey of several auto immune issues, lymes, and severe period of eczema and have moderate alopecia, which as a woman can be very difficult. I learned MaryRuth also had similar issues growing up with is what intrigued me about learning her health methodsI was emailed about the prelaunch of MaryRuth’s book and decided to try it since she also has a book club (it hasn’t started yet as of this review, June 9th, but I think it will soon). Her website says she is a “certified health educator, nutritional consultant, top chef and the owner of one of the fastest growing vegan vitamin brands in the world”Here are my thoughts on the book:PROS and what this book is:1. A LIFESTYLE THAT IS BALANCED to help with ENERGY, GRADUAL WEIGHTLOSS, and INSPIRATION to help you through a variety of health challenges. It’s easy to do, NOT extreme. Personally, I have issues with moderate alopecia (hair loss, and it’s a very common thing especially as you get older) and everything I tried to help remedy disturbed my lifestyle, forced me into some extreme eating habit or sacrifice, and wasn’t sustainable. A lot of the concepts are ones we know but MaryRuth explains them, and backs them with science, in away that is enjoyable, inspiring and practical. My favorite chapter was a whole chapter about how to chew your food!2. Auto Immune Disease and Lymes: I don’t care what doctors tell you Lymes is real, and I know many friends who suffer from this and it destroys their life. Mary Ruth talks about her personal struggles with Lymes and how her own program helped her overcome it. She’s not offering a cure as there isn’t one, so don’t look for that, she offers Inspiration and a way to move forward.3. LOSS AND GRIEF: this woman went through more pain and death than I think most people can handle. How she survived and then THRIVED is an inspiration to all women. Father died, brother died, mom got paralyzed, lost 3 children, horrible. She shares how her 12 steps got her through it.4. NO MORE DIETING: finally a book that doesn’t tell me what NOT TO EAT. MaryRuth advocates that a person should enjoy their life, enjoy what they eat, but do it in a method that doesn’t over burden the body. She does give suggestions on how to live this lifestyle to get energy, weightloss, creativity, joy, and balance.5. IT IS INSPIRING and YOU WILL get emotional.6. ITS FREE: a big thing she emphasizes is you don’t need to spend any money to do the 12 steps, that they are universal and accessible to everyone. For people who already spend a lot on their well being, this was a big plus. I already spend over $100 a month on her vitamins because it’s the only ones my kids like and they aren’t filled with sugar.7. It’s a fast read, I did it in 3 days and enjoyed it.Cons and What this book ISN’T1. Weight loss: I noticed on amazon this was also in the weight loss category, but that might be a bit misleading. MaryRuth doesn’t share weight loss “techniques” per se, BUT she has shared how her 12 steps helped her lose about 40 lbs through a gradual approach to her 12 steps. But if you’re looking for some fast slam dunk diet, this is not the book2. I WANT THE STUFF SHE ISN’T SAYING!?? I saw a lot of posts where she talks about advanced healing techniques she used on herself (she used to have acne, eczema, and her son has a medical condition). She never went into too much detail on Instagram but I was hoping she would in the book. Maybe she is saving it for another book I don’t know but I wanted to hear more about oxygen therapy that she uses, cold therapy, food combining, hyperbaric, UV Light treatment, vibration plates, etc.3. MORE PHOTOS and EXAMPLES: a lot of the concepts are very powerful but often they lead to 50 more questions, and I wish there were more examples to help me understand how to apply the concepts. For example, one of the most interesting chapters is about food and she touches upon types of food and how they digest in the body. I think we could of had several more chapters about this topic with more detailed examples as it was Very interesting. All in all I’m a fan of the book and still a big fan of her vitamins. My husband loves the pineapple sleep formula (don’t get the cranberry lol) and my kids are addicted to the gummies. I hope my review helped in making your decision. I will come back and update my review after experiencing the live book club.

an easy read
This was a great book. I’ve done about every diet imaginable. It’s exhausting to even think about. All of them eventually failed and left me even worse off then I was before. Heavier weight wise but also feeling more depleted and depressed. Also oddly enough after each diet binge (I’ll call it) I would end up with some new allergy to a certain food that never bothered me before.I don’t know if this book is the answer, but it did give me insight into how I have created this habit of crash diets and trying to lose weight faster than I put it on. That’s not realistic. These steps are easy enough to implement one at a time, which is what I’m trying to do now. Not huge immediate changes, but small ones over a longer time.Right now I’m working on the first principle, liquids until lunch. I’ll add in the others as I think on them but I want this to be a life change. It’s better for me to do one thing at a time and not stress about the rest.My favourite part of this book is where she said she imagined how she wanted to be and what she wanted to be and worked backwards. The 24 hr period in front of her was how she could work towards that.

A life changing book
As a mom of 4, I started buying Mary Ruth's vitamins/supplements at the start of the pandemic. I was determined to boost my family's immune system and have been pleasantly surprised by the high quality product her company puts out. When she came out with this book, I did not think twice about preordering it. Much like with her supplements, I was again pleasantly surprised by the quality of her book and the content. It is highly readable and really helps you focus on the specific actions you need to take in order to improve your health and your life. Don't think twice about buying this book. It is manual for long term, sustained change. I would give it MORE than 5 stars if I could!

If you’re truly looking to change your life
The first thing I want to drive home about this book is that it isn’t just about diet and exercise, and it absolutely is NOT another weight loss read. What I love about Liquids Till Lunch is that not only are these actions designed for anyone and everyone, but they’re extremely easy and practical to integrate into your life. Many of us have busy schedules and it seems almost impossible to make time for ourselves and our health. MaryRuth has done an incredible job of creating habits that have a positive impact on the body as a whole. She also dives into the effects of positive changes on a cellular level. If you’re looking to make long-lasting, positive changes to your life, I would 100% recommend this book.

This book is about creating a happy and healthy life. The book is very practical and life changing.
This book is really about creating a happy and healthy life, and teach you a balanced way to achieve more energy, better sleep, gradually lose weight, and minimize your stress. It was exactly what I needed! The book is practical and is laid out in an easy to follow order. I’m so motivated to apply the 12 actions to my everyday life. As MaryRuth writes, “ Minute by minute, day by day, you will inch forward and, before you know it, those micro changes will add up and become life changing.”I also highly recommend her vitamins, and ice pressed olive oil. They have been life changing for me.

The things I am learning about my body in this book is mind blowing! I thought a knew pretty much everything about my body, but apparently not. This is a must read for every single person out there. Congratulations Maryruth on an outstanding book! You are one very smart lady!

NOT FOR PREGNANT WOMEN
Please don't follow this diet if you are pregnant. I'm worried about what happened to her eldest son.I think if you are a healthy adult, "Liquids till Lunch" would be fine.
