Good value for filters with the pet designation.As some other reviews mentions, these filters are a little short (5mm or so)..They don’t push down on the switch at the bottom of the filter area.I put some cardboard from the packaging at the top of the filter to push it filter downward… it works finer after.

This has less bypass than the oem filter so air is cleaned more efficiently and less pet hair, dust, or allergens get blasted around the filter and out the front. There is less dust and dog fur collected on the front grill even when not vacuuming the filter off as often as we should. From making my own custom air filter units I know even a few millimeters worth of gap where the air bypasses the filter can reduce filter effectiveness by around 25%.However, the extra padding that makes this filter fit tighter than the plain plastic frame of the oem filter fails to press correctly on the UV safety buttons for our older germ guardian. Exact model long ago forgotten. Exposure to UV bulbs meant for sterilization can be dangerous within seconds depending how strong they are so it has a button at the top and bottom that both have to be pushed in by the filter and door panel for it to run. The top one triggered but I had to shove something in the bottom slit under the filter edge so it would push down on it.The unit had been sitting around unused for 2 years after the new puppy chomped the cord because of the amount of obvious debris it missed and only spread even farther through the house. Plus the work to fix it. A recent sewer line backup and a switch to dustier small pet bedding had me considering if I could make it function again and possibly better instead of buying a new one. I cut an equally heavy cord off a dead aquarium light and spliced it together. It's been functioning better the past few months with this alternative filter and the spliced cord than it did 2 years ago.If you have more odor issues instead of just allergens and dust hepa filters by themselves do not remove many odors effectively unless they are sufficiently trapped within the particles stopped by the hepa filter. Odors not contained by the particles in the filter will continue to release smell even within your air filter unit and most gases will pass through a hepa filter. You need to improve your chemical filtration media by merely changing the carbon pre filter pad more often with a brand new, fully sealed one or swapping it for a stronger option. You can get separate carbon and a few similar materials that filter various odors in larger sheets or rolls you cut to size. Rinsing with water or vacuuming carbon prefilters will not restore their odor removing properties. UV light can also help with odor and if your unit has a UV bulb you may need to replace that more often as well to keep your filter working the best it can.

Works very well. They seem to pick up a ton of dust. The price is a little high for a disposable filter, and it does add up a bit over time, but I guess as long as it works as described.

These special filters designed for homes with pets have proven themselves worthwhile as we have four little dogs two of which are terriers who usually carry odors as they come in from being outside a short time. Pet odors are minimal with these filters in the air cleaning machines
