We all know that mitts are warmer than gloves but what makes our Volt women's Heated Mitts even more unique is that we combine 200 grams of insulation with our patented Zero Layer heating system that concentrates heat to both sides of the hand and the thumb not only keeping your hand warm, but your fingertips as well. I don’t know about you, but my fingertips are usually the first to go numb and the last thing I want to have to deal with are cold, numb fingers that won’t function the way I need them to or want them to. If you are looking for some serious warmth but still like to have quick access to your hands then the Volt Heated Mitts are the only way to go. Whether you are in the stands at the ballgame, out for a walk or getting ready to hit the slopes, go with our Volt Heated Mitts and you will never be left out in the cold again.

Warm, well made mitts, worth the price and more!
We live deep in the Alaska bush, near McCarthy Ak. The tempratures here can reach -40F in the winter. I bought these mitts for my wife. She needs them when she is out hunting and needs to be able to have warm hands on the snowmachine (AKA "snowmobile" for you lower 48). My wife prefers Mitts because they keep her hands warmer than gloves do. We have been challenged to find an affordable, rugged pair of mitts that is warmed via a rechargeable battery. It is imperative for our gloves to be built tough enough for the Alaska bush, and warm enough for -40F. Chemical warmers aren't a realistic option for us, because we would go through 10 to 15 warmers per day!THE MITTS- They are constructed with a medium-thick material overall, (maybe cordura nylon?) The fabric is soft and not as thick as my Volt Polar X work gloves which makes the mitts easier to grasp things with. (See my review of the Volt Polar X Work Gloves- if you need to do work in sub 0 temps) The palms and thumb and each are covered with a thick but supple leather. There is a strip of a rubbery reinforcement material across the most commonly worn areas, the palm and some wrist area. The material stays flexible in the extreme cold, and has good grip. The stitching on each mitt is a very close, tight stitch. All of the stitching on the pair of her mitts, appear to be high quality. They have a nice elastic under wrist, with a velcro tab across the top. The velcro keeps the mits snug, unlike other mitts that always feel loose, like the will fall off at any moment. The battery compartment is a pocket on the top of the wrist that has a see through window that allows the wearer to see the heat level setting. Originally I was concerned that any mitts that I bought wouldn't be able to stand up to the rugged Alaskan environment while remaining flexible and WARM.WARMING- My wife has used these mitts in -20F so far. They were able to keep her hands warm while on the highest setting. The batteries lasted about 5 hours on HIGH in -20F, which is impressive. In temps above 0F, they keep her hands warm on the lowest setting, with the battery lasting longer than 8 hours at that setting.I turned the mitts up to the highest setting, and I left them on my 72F degree kitchen table for 15 minutes with a thermometer placed deep into the Mitt. The reading was a constant 105F degrees! See the photos above included in this review.DEXTERITY- The mitts allow for exactly what you would expect something that covers all of your fingers together at the same time. They are soft and supple and allows a good grip on snowmachine/ATV handlebars and ski poles. We have found that they are very effective at waving hello and goodbye, or even traffic directing at intersections (if there were any here). We also fight the constant desire to dance the "robot" when wearing them.BATTERY- The battery included with the mitts are an impressive 2150 Mah which is standard for just most of the other heated glove manufacturers. The USB connection to the mitt battery has a very secure connector. When I push in the connector, there is a satisfying audible "click" as the locking mechanism slides into place which prevents the USB cable from being dislodged, or from any unnecessary chaffing of the plug connector. I have had many of my other USB devices fail at the USB plug because of play in the connection. With this snap-on connection I dont think that will happen here. The charger has a connector with two USB ends, which allows both batteries to be recharged at the same time. After I fully discharged the batteries, they were able to recharge fully in about 4 hours. (Like all Li-ion batteries, I had to allow the batteries to warm to room temperature before plugging them in to recharge, to prevent damaging the batteries).OVERALL- These mitts are comfortable, warm, and very well made. We are demanding consumers and I am sure our usage of mitts and gloves are at the extreme side of the spectrum. I have previously used gloves and mitts from several of the top-of-the-line heated glove manufacturers. Most of the other brands are double the price we paid, and most have lower quality. If you need heated mitts, you can't go wrong with these. My wife is really happy with these. (And you know what "they" say- A happy wife......)We own a lodge, and we have guests that sometimes come unprepared for the extreme cold. I am planning to buy several pair for my guests as loaners.

Consider these, with some caveats
Pros: 1. They DO keep hands warmer than any of the many, many gloves and mittens I have tried. 2. The batteries re-charge fairly quickly. You can do it between multiple wearings on a very cold day. 3. They seem well-constructed and fit comfortably.Cons: 1. I have small hands for a male and the mittens are very snug. I don't see how a normal-to-large size male hand would fit into them. 2. The batteries do not keep the mittens warm for nearly as long as advertised. At full strength, I get about 30-45 minutes when it is below freezing out. Then the warmth drops so low that they are not really helpful until charged again. If you are out in zero-to-32 degrees, they are worth considering. They are warmer than anything I have tried...and I have tried a lot of gloves and mittens! Just don't plan to be out for several hours and expect them to stay warm the entire time in very low temperatures.

Toasty! Worked great out of the box.
Opened the box and charged the batteries for about 2 hours before heading for the slopes yesterday. The batteries have a mechanism that locks in the cords for both the charger and on the mitts themselves. Setting the heat level involves getting a feel for the button pushing. The heating element is not instantaneous; it took about an hour before my left mitt got so warm I needed to lower it from level 3 to level 2. What was really nice was stuffing my right mitt into my jacket pocket, using my phone/camera for a couple of minutes, and then pushing my exposed right hand back into the mitt which was toasty warm! I left my right mitt at level 3 which lasted for 4 hours. My left mitt, which I lowered to level 2, was still operational when I was done skiing. My hand is 3 1/4 inches across the knuckles. They were a little tighter at that point than my normal XL mittens but still quite comfortable. They're a bit bulky but I won't go skiing or snow shoveling without them now!

Not exalctly hot, but the gloves definitely keep the hands warmer than an unheated glove. I am a ski coach and spend alot of time outside and these gloves really improve the comfort of my hands on the subzero days in Minnesota.

Great Mitten
These mittens are great. I bought them for my husband who is going through chemo therapy and they keep his hands very warm. He faces a lot of cold sensitivity and these mittens are perfect for him. Nice quality. Worth the investment.

Defective battery
One of the batteries was defective and it shut off after 10 minutes. I followed the instructions to a t and even after several charges, it would not work. Returned them. The one mitten that did work was AMAZING!

Barely warm. Disappointing.
While they do get somewhat warm, we are pretty much disappointed overall in these gloves. There is no way they will keep hands protected from cold in severe conditions for long. Far too expensive and not as described or expected.

One Star
Way too small for a men's large hand. Unuseable.
