This set is absolutely awesome. It's definitely on the pricey side (hence, 4 stars instead of 5), but its worth every penny!It arrived ahead of schedule, and the wrapping was epic. It literally had 4 or 5 layers of protection on it!!The carry box is beautifully made, and the pieces are exquisite. This is easily my favorite set (a title previously held by a hand-carved set I purchased in the Riviera Maya, Mexico).If you can afford it, buy this set. You won't regret it!!

After a rather long wait (FedEx misplaced the set for five days), this wonderful set arrived. It was packaged by an expert. It was boxed, protected by a double layer of styrofoam, and in a second box and again wrapped with a protective layer of soft foam wrap. When the wooden storage box was opened, all the chessmen were again wrapped in foam and tape. WOW! I think it may have been bullet-proof. The set is exquisite! The pieces have nice weight, but don't quite feel like triple weight. The knights are premium. The carving was done by a true craftsman (person). This was my most expensive chess set, and will probably become my favorite. The board was not included with the set, and the squares are a trifle small (2.2 inches), but I can live with it. The most important thing to me was that it was made of bud rosewood to go with the chessmen. Also, because it is borderless, it fits my table perfectly.

Really detailed knights and the red color is pretty in all shades of light. Enjoy the weight of these pieces. The seller took great care in packaging each individual piece along with the elegant box they come in. Very happy with the quality of these chess pieces and has enhanced enjoyment of playing. Recommend 4.5 inch square board like the description suggest. I wish I knew where they were made as it doesn’t say but the wood is beautiful.

I like the set very much. It is just right! Not too fancy to cause distraction from the game, but fancy enough. The weight of the pieces is perfect. The craftsmanship is excellent. The pieces fit well in the supplied box, and the box itself is solid and well made. The rosewood is a bit darker than on the picture, but it still is beautiful, and you can see the texture. As I said, this is my best set ever.

Amazing luxurious pieces, love the bud rose and quality of crafting. Heavy and big pieces. Playable on a 2.25'' squares chess board but on a 2.5'' is the perfect match. House of chess is very good at making chess pieces. Great packaging, no issue. The bud rose is a bit darker than in the picture.
